Has anyone on here tried a different battery in their Shuttle ? Mine is out of warranty and doesn’t keep a charge for a whole day. Marcum wants 140.00 to fix it so I thought maybe try to put a Dakota Lithium in there.

I’d just stick a Dakota in there. My shuttle has been going good for 2 seasons now but when it gives up I’ll just stick a Dakota in it.
January 20, 2019 at 9:47 pm #1827922Will it fit? I know Marcum shrink wrapped their cells to minimize size. I think you’d be hard pressed to fit a “cased” battery such as a Dakota in there.
I’ve heard places like Batteries + will rebuild these types of packs. May be worth a call to see if they can source the cells and get a quote.

I was thinking this exact thing. Didn’t those shuttles just come out last year? For the price they ask you’d expect a lot better. Sure makes Dakota and Energized Outdoors look like the better buy IMO.
dbv2Posts: 36January 21, 2019 at 11:59 am #1828105They did come out last year, which is why it seems strange that it would already not be holding a charge well. The Shuttle is not cheap and the battery should be expected to last. Most lithium batteries in power tools have 5 year warranties.
January 21, 2019 at 8:58 pm #1828322My Shuttle goes down to 25% in about a 7 hr day on the ice and that’s starting out fully charged 100%. The last time out my LX9 got down to 10.7v so I was just gonna let it go until it shut off but it never did. So I emailed Marcum and they said it needed to be sent in to fix it. They said if the unit was not over 1 year and 30 days it would be covered mine is 1 yr and 3 months. My Battery Plus near me told me the battery they use in the Shuttle is exclusive because of the special dimensions. My Shuttle worked great last year so not sure what happened. I may go to a Vexilar Pro Pac2 and just use one of my Dakota lithium’s. I don’t use the LED light or USB ports but I really like the 2 rod holders. So that’s why I thought the ProPac would work just fine.
January 21, 2019 at 9:00 pm #1828325Also there’s no way a Dakota Lithium will fit in there. The battery in there is 5” x 2 1/4” x 1 1/2”.

January 23, 2019 at 6:37 pm #1828842Finished ProPac2/Shuttle today and it turned out pretty good. I’m going to order 1 more rod holder for the other side maybe someday a cigarette lighter for phone charging but for now she’s ready to fish. I really liked my Marcum Shuttle but I wish I would’ve done this to begin with and I’d saved 150.00 bucks. But oh well it’s fun doing stuff. And I weighed this without my camera bag and it was 3oz heavier than the original shuttle. Not bad

January 24, 2019 at 6:02 am #1828916Same thing happened to me with my shuttle. It was a month out of warranty. I couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone so I sent them an email. Within a hour I got response. To make a long story after about ten emails and them telling me it out of warranty I sent them an email saying what a POS this thing is. That I spend 250 for it to last 13.5 months and that I couldn’t see spending 140 again ect. Also that there was no way that I could in my right mind recommend the shuttle or any of there products for that matter to anyone’s else. After that email I finally got a phone and they replaced the battery for me for free. They said only 2percent of the shuttles were having this problem. Like I told them I expect to replace it every 4 or 5 years not every year.
January 24, 2019 at 7:39 am #1828936I too had a battery go bad on me. Battery life started tapering off late last season. I stored the battery as recommended my Marcum and when I used it for the first two times this year the battery lasted about 4 hours each time.
I emailed Marcum and they told me to bring it in to their New Hope facility. I had bought it about 13 months prior, so technically i was out of warranty. They did not give me a hard time and said they would fix it. This was the week before Christmas and they had it back to me 3 days later. They replaced the battery along with some of the new plastic shell components (sounds like they beefed up the transducer holder and cord organization tabs).
So far, so good after 7 trips this year – fingers crossed!

January 29, 2019 at 2:34 pm #1830636I wanted to get a shuttle, but after hearing about the issues, I’m hesitant to drop 250. I can just get a Dakota lithium for 100 and fix the soft case so it’s balanced
David BlaisPosts: 766January 29, 2019 at 4:55 pm #1830679I’d be surprised if it wasn’t a bunch of aa lithium rechargable batteries. Done in series to make 12 volts
January 31, 2019 at 10:10 am #1831428I did a video this summer on how cheap the shuttle is… People didn’t wanna hear it. Well there ya go
I’ve been on the brink of buying one. I’ve been curious of the longevity. I still run a lx5 with regular battery and I carry 2 with. For 250 bucks I want it to last a few years.
January 31, 2019 at 10:16 am #1831431Bearcat if I would of known then what I know now I would go the Pro Pack route JMO though.
