I was at the Marcum office the other day where I heard about this lithium battery option for my LX-9.

It’s expensive but if it lasts as long as they claim and has a decent life span I think I will get one.

Can anyone share their findings with this battery?

    Thanks!

I’ve run the same battery in my 9 for the last two seasons. They work as advertised and the weight savings is worth every penny.

    Thanks James.
What about lifespan of the battery? SLA batteries are said to last 2-3 seasons before they die. Will the lithium batteries last for a few years at least when properly maintained?
Another question is, how are these batteries able to outperform SLA batteries in extreme cold? I have always heard that lithium batteries don’t do well in cold. My Ion auger battery does not do well if it gets cold, for example.
    I appreciate your help.

No batteries like the cold. Lithium batteries are no exception but as far as batteries go lithium is the way to go with more capacity for amp hours per weight and no memory effect makes it better right there but lithium takes it up a notch with the ability to be recharged a LOT more than others almost twice as much and with lithium you get full power till it dies downside costs more.

I don’t know how long my battery will last as I’m still in the middle of the test, so to speak. Right now all I can offer is the battery will last two season…and counting.

As for the performance in the cold I’ve fished with it at 25 below and there seems to be no noticeable performance issues.
