Lithium Batteries in Game Camera

So here’s something interesting. I bought my second Wildgame Innovations camera and wanted to set it up w/ litium batteries (nonm rechargeable). The light goes on but I get no LCD display. When I swapped out the Lithium for the alkaline batteries that came with the unit….voila. All good.
Has anyone else had this experience?

I have a Moultrie and used Lithium without issues. Did the manual say anything about battery requirements? I agree that sounds odd.

In the menus, is there an option for battery type?

I just contacted the manufacturer. Nothing in the manual about batteries except not to mix them up and install them properly.

Check the battery’s voltage with a voltmeter. I’m betting one of the batteries is dead right out of the box.

If that doesn’t work, measure the voltage of each lithium battery and do the average. They may be a little “hot” for the camera as far as supplying too much voltage and the camera is wigging out because of it.

There’s also no need to run lithium batteries anymore with a lot of the cameras on the market. I get over 1 year of year-round use with regular Rayovac batteries from Menards in both Bushnell and Browning cameras. Cameras have gotten so good with reducing power consumption that IMO it’s better to pay a little more to upgrade to a better camera than it is to pay for lithium batteries over and over again.

I think you’re probably right about the batteries . . .something not quite consistent there. Also, I agree about regular alkaline batteries as well. I had those in my other camera and didn’t have any problems and ran them for about a year and a half….
Where I live, we get some very cold snaps of -20-30 below Centigrade so I was thinking Lithiums might be good.

I have my other camera in the woods right now and won’t pull the card for a couple more months. It’s loaded with new alkaline batteries.

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas.
