Lite Flite Replace or Sharpen Blades?

I am quite sure that I am not qualified to sharpen my Lite Flite Blades, and I don’t know if having them sharpened is worth doing. A new set of blades would cost over $50 (I believe the correct model number is LPD-8PB for the 8 inch.)
    What do you guys do?
Any sharpening gurus in the east metro that can restore them inexpensively?

Probably not helpful, but I have a set of k drill blades that need sharpening and mailing them in to be sharpened apparently just never sticks as a priority in my mind. So I bought another set, 3 years ago. And now I have two sets that need to be sharpened lol

Buy a new set. I keep a new set in my pack for my long trips also just in case .

    From a google search…

“StrikeMaster recommends against sharpening their power auger blades. The blades are very sharp and have precise angles, and attempting to sharpen them can damage the blade’s hardness. If the blade has any dings, knicks, or roll-over on the leading edge, StrikeMaster recommends replacing it with a new factory-packaged blade.”

    Imagine that! jester

Love the Lite Flite but I go through blades with it faster than others I’ve had. Maybe its me, type of ice…dunno but do know I go through more with this unit. I buy new as I’m not aware of a place that sharpens these.

Buy a new set, cost of fishing. I do not hear people complain about spending $50 on beer that only last the weekend, the blades should last years.
FYI $39.99 at Glens Army store

This is one of the reasons why I’ve keep my K-drill and held off on buying the lite flite for so long. My K-drill is still on the original blade’s now going on close to 8 years. I purchased a new set a few years ago thinking I’d change them and mail in my current ones to be sharpened. have not felt a need to do so yet. I have plans to get the lite flite this season. My buddies who have the lite flite have had to replace the blades almost every year. Then again these are guys who drill a ton of holes each year. No one that I know of who has tried to have the blades sharpened have had any luck. Probably best to just purchase a new set.

How do you go through so many blades ? I still rock the first lite flight with 1000s of holes and it still drills awesome. That early ice, late dirty ice, all season i abuse the hell out of it.

Don’t put too much downward pressure, let the machine do the work.

That could be it, try not to press down much but who knows. I personally think its from bouncing around in transit on and off the ice that the blades get out pf alignment.

For some reason, I thought I recalled hearing that there was someone who was sharpening these, maybe it was on another site? I did purchase a spare set of blades when I first got my Lite Flite going on 4 seasons ago.
I do my best to take care of them, and I’m happy to have gotten 3 complete seasons from the originals, but it grates against my sensibilities to just throw them out. The originals are not dull, but I can clearly tell that my drill is working harder than when they were new.
I guess I’ll swap in a replacement set, and maybe give those originals a touch up on the Work Sharp and see what happens. They should clean up well since there are no dings.
If anyone hears of a source for sharpening the Lazer Lite Flite blades, please post here.

So when I bought my Lite Flite few years back the sales person told me they are the same as regular 8” lazer blade’s, which I had s spare set wrapped in plastic in my rod bag. I never confirmed this. Can anyone else?

I think we have a winner. Thanks EGP!
It just crossed my mind to check with local bait shops too, I would imagine Blue Ribbon knows someone who does sharpening.

Red Eye, yes, the 8″ Lite Flite takes uses the 8″ Lazer blades. Part number should be LPD-8PB
