I thought it would be kind of fun to get a list of Equipment that you all think of as MUST have. These are Things that if you lost or broke, You would be at a store right or ordering on line as soon as possible. It can be Fishing, Hunting, or other outdoor related equipment.

I’ll start by listing a few of Mine:

Ice fishing – Quality flasher, Kdrill ( New item ), Frabil Sno-suite, Baffin Boots, TUC rods + Clam spring bobber rod.

Hunting – Hand Muff, Dependable rifle, Quality head lamp, Danner Pronghorn boots, hand pruners and small folding saw.

I’m sure I have more that I cant think of right now. I’m looking forward to seeing what items are on others list.

My Nils auger and Vex 28 when it comes to ice fishing. I could get by with everything else, but those are requirements for me. Maybe would include Pink UV tumbler spoons and some Rippin’ Raps.

For Duck Hunting, my rusty but trusty SX2. I would be lost without it. I have newer, nicer guns but that one is the only one I trust in the duck blind.

Since Duck hunting takes precedent for me, I’m an early season bow hunter. A Thermacell is a must-have.

I guess there is some latitude in what is being looked at. When I think “Must Have” Vs “Really Really Nice to have”.

I keep this backpack ready to go 100% of the time. Has multiple change of clothes, 3 days dry food supply, extra ammo, fire start, batteries, lights, knives for butchering, bags, gloves, 1 man heat tent (wrap),hand warmers, trauma kit, 8Watt radio, GPS, solar charger, and Misc string/para cord…. In the event of a catastrophic situation, I can grab this bag and 1 rifle and survive nearly anywhere within reason. After a good buddy of mine lost his house in a tornado, we all learned that having a “prepper kit” was a realistic thing to have. Not to be over the top like the preppers you see on TV shows, but like in Jeff’s situation. Tornado hit on a summer night when they were all in bed. They (2 babies and 2 adults) made it in the basemnent, and were fine. When it cleared, they were crawling out of the rubble and broken glass in basically just their underwear.

So between the remote places I go hunting and fishing, plus serving as an E-Kit at home, ANYTHING that gets used out of this pack is immediately replaced.
    # 2 on my list is either my 270WSM or my 22-250 (pref. Both). Either are incredible weapons serving me well to distances over 550 meters with effective kill shots. If given only one, I’ld grab the 250. Can carry more ammo and would serve better for smaller animals up to whitetail.

#3 would be my pack rod. Fits in the backpack and is good for panfish to walleyes.

Everything else is just a luxury

There’s a few items I have with me and use year round in all 4 seasons whether it be hunting, fishing, backpacking, or anything outdoors.

    Sunglasses
    Headlamp
    Multi-tool
    Fleece 1/4 zip
    Rain Shell
    Cell Phone

Edit: I’ve been trying to get in the habit of keeping a tiny, just the essentials, 1st aid & fire starting kit with me but I need to do a better job of that.
