Are Lindy glow spoons legal to use in MN? I’m curious because using lights to catch fish in MN is illegal as far as I know.

    Thanks!

100% legal to use lighted lures in MN.

Even if it was battery operated, it would be legal as long as the battery doesn’t contain mercury. Pg.33 in the reg book.

I would figure a company the size of Lindy would check beforehand. They also are just following what Northland already did, just they seemed to improve on the concept.

I haven’t used any lighted lures and I’ve still managed to catch fish… that’s weird mrgreen

Naw JK, they look cool I’ve just never felt the need to try them yet. Does anyone feel they have improved your normal catch rate?

I bought them on the premise of “ooooh shiny, gotta buy it”. I catch fish on them but not sure if the lure actually helps in the process. They have hit it and not hit the dead stick right beside it more often than not but won’t contribute that to the fact that the lure is illuminated.

On a side note, the glow sticks don’t stay lit in the cold water, I have run 2 sticks. One in my mouth (keeps it warm and is convenient so you don’t loose it, just don’t bite it open) and one in the lure. I switch them out every 5-10 minutes and they get bright again once warmed for 20 or so seconds.

I think that the sticks and painted glow baits create a lot of curiosity in fish. Many times I have had fish approach a glow bait but not show any further interest until a different color of glow is dropped down and then pow. I feel to that the lighted or glow lures with a little actual meat will often times do double duty by creating that curious nature, drawing the fish in to see what it is and then getting a whiff of food that seals the deal.

A person has to be paying attention to how the fish react to these baits that are all lit up too as sometimes the glow created will push the fish away.

The gold one with a red glow stick has been phenomenal for me on LOW.

I will have to break down and buy one. I told myself I didnt need any new tackle this season unless something broke

guess you need to break a lure or two then. something you rarely use and is taking up space

I have been crushing eyes on mille lacs with the Lindy Glow spoon this season. The perch colored one and blue/white/pink has been hot. I will fish it during the day with no glow stick. It has a pretty good flutter with no glow spoon in. The plastic design really helps I think.

As others have stated, the glow sticks you might get 15-20 minutes out of them. I keep 2 going and switch.. Just like checking bait I guess so it doesn’t bother me. A quick 5 second switch and I am back down.
