Lillydale ramp

I have only used this ramp 3 times, but I have a question/concern. Why do people park/stop their cars in the loop at the ramp? Why are there so many cars there without trailers and people just sitting in them texting making calls, whatever? This seems to be all hours too. I was there at 5:30am Sunday and 10pm last night and the same activity both times. The cars parked/stopped in the loop at the ramp make it nearly impossible to pull a truck and trailer around to get lined up for the ramp? I understand it’s a public ramp and anyone can use it, but multiple cars more or less blocking the ramp with no boat trailer and no intention of using the ramp?:???:

It’s likely this, has been notorious for it for a number of years.

^^^^ This. Well reported in the media. Cops will occasionally crack down. (Lillydale, Crosby, and Hidden Falls) However, the traffic seems to be keeping the break ins to a minimum or non-existent. Never had a problem there.

We as anglers DO NOT want to make a stink out of it. Easy solution for the city would be to lock the gate up sunset to sun rise. That would suck for us!

Just people enjoying our waterways. Ask em to move, they will. Typically just stoners. Some of the time just folks wanting a serene view in the comfort of their car.

Duly noted Jon! I guess I was more curious than anything. My mind was wondering last night at 10pm loading the boat in the dark and not know who these people were and why they were there. Now I know. I had drug deals on my mind.

Boat launches and parks in general are not on the minds of drug dealers. Not that they are all dumb@ss inbreds but i wouldn’t worry about those types at areas that are typically lit well, one way in/out, with better chances of people being out and about.

You have ever right to wonder and I would pay attention to my surroundings down there just to be extra safe. I’ve never had issues down there but the story below happened just a mile or two down the road.

Also, I think the reason it appeared so busy last night is the parking lot is only half plowed. Once it is all plowed out, they typically stay down at the far end there. It’s a temporary problem in the loading area.

But Andy, while I was trailering my boat last night I saw you peeking out of the bushes just downstream of the launch… Never knew you were big on shore-fishing whistling

Not me…furthermore “that guy” peeking out of the bushes was not there for “shore-fishing”. What was he using for bait? razz
