Lighting for a Hub?

I plan on picking up a new Hub this year. Probably one of the new Otters or Clam.

Was wondering what most of you Hub fisherman are using for lights? I was thinking some rope lights of some sort.

For Hubs with netting storage on two sides of the top (Clam hubs have the nets, Otter doesn’t) I like the UFO type lights and I have the Clam Bigfoot 4000T. One usually works for me, but one on each side is even better if you like it lighter inside. I’m thinking about getting one of the new Otter hubs, but I’m disappointed that they don’t have the storage nets on the top for lights and hats, gloves, etc.

THX for the reply Al but enlighten my ignorance on the “UFO” type of lights?

There are many types out there, but I have the one in the bottom link. There are 3 settings for the amount of light you want on them. You can google ufo camping led lights or ufo led lights. They’re cheap on eBay. I think you can get the one I did for about $6 including shipping on there.

Here is the link for the eBay ufo lights like mine. $7 includes shipping. I’ve used them for years. The top listing is the one I have. The lights are outstanding for flip overs, as well.

Pick up a clamp style light from menards and and cut off the end and put some alligator clips on it too run it off a car battery. Works better then a cheap ufo light I think very bright.

Buddy of mine uses a Semi truck interior dome light (600lumens) with alligator clips to a spare Marcum battery….wicked bright.

I use a headlight

But when I’m doing overnights I employ a fan for heat distribution. Clam fan lights.

Otherwise it’s almost always headlight. Bright everywhere I look.

Been using pop ups for last 4yr prolly.

Clam came out with a new hub light this year. I’ve seen it lit first hand and it is impressive!

That Clam light looks pretty sweet, Matt. I’ll be looking at that at the Ice Fishing Shows.
