Going to Kabetogama in a few weeks. Thinking about just throwing in a lighted bobber while we sit around the campfire. Never have used them before. Any suggestions on type or recommendations?

    Thanks

I like the Thill splash brite. It turns on by itself when it contacts the water.

X2 on the splash brite. Plus you have a quality float once the juice runs out.

Check out VMC’s version of the splash brite. The metal prongs on the bottom are thick pins that will not bend, seem a little brighter, and you can actually open them up and replace the coin battery if needed. IMO its a superior product to the thill splash brite.

How long do the batteries last?

Thanks for the heads up Kroger! I liked the design of the Thill but after the battery wears out how many bobbers does a guy need? I like the idea of being able to replace just the battery.

Tgrenke – It say’s about 30 hours on the two batteries. That’s the same run time quoted for the Thill, but once the Thill is done lighting it’s done as a lighted bobber.

That VMC light up bobber is nice. Get the bigger of the two sizes. The smaller one only has one led light and uses smaller batteries. Changing batteries does require a slight delicate touch. Haven’t had a chance to use mine but looking awesome in cup of water. Red LED is the only choice, oh well.

Rod N Bobbs Lucky Jacks light up bobbers aren’t too shabby. I used these in the past.

I like the Thills and really the only recommendations I can give is that the larger ones are superior to be able to be seen and that after you are finished fishing with them, I like to blow hard on the metal ends to get rid any excess water that may allow the bobber to stay lit or lose charge whilest I am not looking. Also, I have never had a problem with lighting for an entire season, although my season is not nearly as long as a Mille Lacs season as I only night slip bobber during the summer on main lake humps…

best lighted bobber for me is a Rob n Bobs. You don’t have to retie to use a slip bobber and it can be used as a clip bobber. It uses glow sticks that go into the tube on top. You can also see it during the day.
