Anyone using the Lexa Line Counter reels? Looking for some reviews before getting a couple.

    TIA.

Didn’t know they made them. You thinking about getting the 300/400 size?

I can only speak for the non line counter ones, for muskies their a great affordable and serviceable reel for a casual fisherman. If you fish a lot with these reels then you might only get about 2 years worth before having them rebuilt. I know a guide on vermilion that blew up 3 this year.

From the looks at your pic you might use them for downriggers, which might be a different application so your outcome might be different.

Thanks Carver, how are the drags? For my application it is the most important feature in a reel. I currently use Tekota 300’s but think they are on the heavy side and looking for something lighter.

For the most part I have them locked in all the way most of the time and adjust as needed when a fish is on so I think their fine. Let me play around with one tonight and see. I have a brand new reel and one that is rebuilt so we will see which one is better if anything. If I remember the drag was pretty good.

I have sealines and acudepths for my line counters for trolling and ya it adds a lot of weight but for me their in the rod holder all the time so I don’t mind.

My buddy has those same tekotas for trolling and they seem very nice. The weight different between the 2 are just a couple of ounces if I read correctly.

Here are some pics of the new reels. The size is nice. I can tell there is a slight quality difference in the feel vs. my Shimano Tekotas but these are a lot less expensive reels. We’ll have to wait to get them Flaming Gorge Kokanee tested.

Who makes them? I use Diawa 90% of the time but will bust out the Tekota when hunting big fish.

Sounds like fun! I wanted to make the trip over to flaming gorge when I lived in northern CA, but never did. I moved back to WI now, so it looks like it might not ever happen.

I will miss Kokanee fishing a lot. I really enjoyed trolling around for those little buggers!

Have fun whenever you make the trip and good luck with the reels. They look like a great reel for those freakish sized flaming gorge fish.

Agree with you about the Tekota reels. I fish a lot for Kokanee in the summer and they range from 2 – 4 pounds where I fish so I thought that the Tekota was a little overkill. These are a Diawa reel and I chose the 100 model for my ultra light trolling rods.
