If this keeps up the Wild might actually be closer to the top than than the bottom in scoring for the first time in franchise history. They certainly have 4 lines that can score.
Great win against the Bruins last night, especially after the meltdown the night before.
But man, the Wild are doing everything the hard way these days. 0 and 29 on the power play? Cripes, might as well have the 4th line out there, if they can do it full strength maybe they could also get it done on the PP?
And what the heck is the problem with the Wild with under 3 minutes left in the game? This almost killed us even last year in the post season and here we go again. What do we have to do differently to stop letting our netminder get shelled in the closing minutes of a game?
Overall, I guess, these are problems that will hopefully work themselves out over the season. I mean you can’t NOT score on a the power play forever with this kind of talent, right? Right?

So, are your guys running one never ending thread for the Wild?
Its a fishing website, so I think one running thread is all we need.
Serial head-targeting POS perp John Moore of the Rangers managed to get off with only a 5 game suspension for the filthy hit on Eric Haula. It’s unbelievable what you can get away with in the NHL if your from an Eastern team or even better, an “original 6” team. Second dirty hit resulting in a suspension in 12 games and he gets a total of 7 games suspension.
Apparently the excuse is that the league didn’t want to trigger an appeal if they went to 6 games or more. What, exactly, his defense would have been in an appeal is something of a mystery. His best chance would probably be to say he was eating a piazza in Brooklyn at the time and was nowhere near the scene of the crime.
I hope the Wild can lavish some special attention on some of these pieces of #### later in the season.

You know Vanek is going to score the first PP right? It just writes itself.
Pfft, no lobby bar at this extended stay. Yuengling Lager in the fridge. They’ll probably be some left over for the maid tomorrow, because I am going home!
Not a great night to be ar the game. So far anyway.
Except that the getting to sit behind a guy with a totally awesome pom pom wooly hat.

I said it before, but it feels exactly like the start to last year. Dominating on the ice, but not in the win column.
I think the keys are Vanek and the goal tending. They both need to pick it up and be consistent.
Disclaimer: I’ve really only had a few games where I’ve watch closely. Free preview of center ice will be up when I get back, so I need to sign up.
Vanek plus 1 assist and game tied after 3. Wild come alive in the 3rd again. OT about to start.

Nothing more exciting than listening to a game end by a shoot out. :\
Ha, that Koivu one I imagined as it happened. Only seen that move 1000 times.
I had recorded the game so I was behind. I wish the Sharks would have played Stalock in goal. He is from South St. Paul. Great win. Where do we sit in the league for shots on net? We have to he right up there. Saturday will be a fun hockey day with the Gophs/Huskey game and the Wild right after. GO GOPHS! And Wild of course.

So what do you do when you have a goal-scorer who’s not scoring (Vanek) and an under-performing forward who rarely scores (Brodz)? Put them together on a line, obviously, so they can get 2 goals and 2 assists in one night.
Cooke and Haula should be back for the next game, so that will be good.
The best thing about the Wild this year is they seem to have confidence. They have the firepower now and with that seems to be the confidence that they don’t have play 3 periods of desperation hockey to try to get a 2-1 win like they did over the last 2 years. The Wild are dangerous all the time now and they can score across 4 lines so the other team never gets a shift off.
Re Pug’s comment about Koivu’s one/only shoot move, I said that to the guy next to me at the game last night before he shot. Approach from the left, backhand top shelf. He said, yeah the point is it doesn’t do you any good to know what he’s going to do if you still can’t stop it. Stick side against the grain, it’s dang tough to cover 100% of that top quarter.

Holy Brighthouse sucks. I ordered Center Ice at about 6pm. Still showing NBA pass for those channels. Called back and the lady claims that “it expired” and they can’t offer that anymore???? I am calling out and seeing if someone knows what they are talking about. She claimed it was the network. I think either it is Brighthouse or they don’t know what they are talking about. You really think the NHL would only offer Center Ice for a certain period of time and then not offer it????

Der, yeah, it’s on different channels lady. Thanks for helping me miss the first period.
I’m keeping an eye on the gopher/husky thread. The grumpy old men are at it again.

I like it. Great work out front if the net.
The Dallas d man totally botched it on that Granny goal.
I hope you’re drinking at the lobby bar. You’ve had enough.
ahem…
You guys really need to stop doubting me.
Did you see this NHL Power Rankings
Yes I know it is just power rankings, but nice to see us finally being considered an elite team.
I did. The only thing keeping them from #1 is the PP. Now you can see how important it is.
It could be 2-1.
