Wild just need 2 points, but more than likely with Calgary playing the Jets and Kins one of those teams will lose a game in regulation. The sad part is all three teams we play are battling for the division. It might change, but none of them will be playing it safe for 60 minutes, they are going to be hungry for the full 2 points and they also won’t want to let up on a team they could potentially face in the first round.

Sure hope Nino gets back if they get in. Didn’t sound good.

Think how important that swep a couple weekends ago against the Kings and Flames actually was!

I think they’ll be more relaxed on the road and win at least one outright. The Wild seems to like to play hard with their backs against the wall.

it also shows how costly that home loss the the Oilers was a month or so ago… We have to figure out the Powerplay otherwise this will be a short playoffs….

I thought it was pretty funny when I heard national announcers saying the PP wasn’t as important in the playoffs because in the playoffs things tighten up. They said that and followed it up with its more important to have a goo PP. They kind of sound mutually inclusive.

That being said I do believe 5/5 scoring is much more important.

Zucker in unless warmups go bad and Nino just has a bruised foot and will play.

    Panic…… Could this be the latest MN flop???? Panic…… Panic…… Panic…… Panic…… Panic…… Panic…… Panic…… Panic……

They sure don’t make things easy

Relax the the wild will be in the playoffs. I just hope we play the blues in the playoffs. I do not want them to have to play the hawks in the first round.

Personally, I am not concerned about first round match ups. My expectations are that they win the cup. And that goes for all sports and whoever I am rooting for, its not over inflated expectations of the Wild.

What I don’t want them to have to go through the pacific for 2 reasons. Obviously the time difference is one of them. The second is that I like inter divisional games. They are grittier.

Gutty. You could tell they had tired legs. Made way too many stretch passes that were turned over. But they got it done on the road, second night of a back to back against the hawks.

They’re beasts on the road! That old Minnesota “we’re doomed to lose” conditioning was creeping in. It’s kind of ingrained I guess. I’m heading to Vegas this morning and will be anxious to see where they’re at at the sportsbooks. I’m not a big Vegas guy but Ann loves it and it evens out the fishing trips.
I’ll post some odds this afternoon.
Pug, are you serious about the time change out west?

I didn’t mean the time difference for the team, I meant for me. 9-10pm Eastern starts are not fun during the week.

Great victory. The wild are really becoming a 3rd period team. Nice to clinch the playoff spot. Will be interesting to watch the next 2 games since they are both playoff teams. Wonder if they will rest Dubs.

Could have the announcers Kissed Chicago’s asses anymore during the first intermission. I know they out played us but we had some good chances which they never discussed.

I don’t know what announcers you are talking about, but Foley and Olczyk on my channel talk up your goalie. They also talked about the good chances the Wild had against the blackhawks. I know the intermission guys on my channel are pretty one sided, but that is here job. They want them to win. With the way the Wild is playing they are no push over. Blackhawks first than maybe I will follow the Wild down the road. LOL

Hey! Where’d everybody go? Wild clinch the playoff spot and everybody joins Parise, Dubnyk, and Vanek by taking the night off?

What a game last night! One of the best of the year and showing everything that’s awesome about the Wild. Kuemper back in goal and it predictably took him a whole period to shake the rust off. Granted he wasn’t getting a lot of help in the first, but still.

So the Wild go in after the first period, fire up the Mr. Coffee in the dressing room, wake up, and come out and THEN they got it all going on. Kuemper was great, the D came alive, and the offense started taking it to the preads the way that produces goals no matter how good Pekker was in goal.

Wow. If I was a Nashville fan, I’d be really ticked off. Zucker gets 2 goals making it 3 goals in 2 games back. And Pomminville gets the back breaker late in the third.

And I LOVE to see the Wild punish teams with empty netters when they pull the goaltender. That was the one big failure against Colorado last year in the playoffs that allowed Roy to keep pulling the goaltender very early, there was just no downside as the Wild were not fast enough on the puck to empty netter it. Not anymore. Keep it up and keep that 6-5 stuff to 2 minutes or less because that’s all the other side will be able to risk.

Funny to say it as a MN fan, but this team is the real deal. They’re deep, they can win on the road, and they don’t allow ANY team to do what Nashville just tried to do–run up a lead and then coast it in for the easy W. This is a tough as nails playoff team and if I were Nashville this is the last team in the NHL that I’d want to face in Round 1.

Great comeback last night, I’m excited for the playoffs, the West is stacked so expect good close games in every series…

My only worry is the power play….with as tight 5-5 is in the playoffs, the powerplay is where a majority of the goals are scored.

The wild can roll 4 lines with confidence, hopefully that equates to more energy in the 3rd periods.

Wild played with amazing poise even down by 2. Been a while since MN had a team with such confidence, determination and ability to finish the job. 3rd period success, road success, PK success, lots of good things all coming together at the right time. Role players getting healthy. Nice

Scandella’s sick move was NHLNETWORK #1 play of the night. Wild are 3 for 3 for making the playoffs since Suter & Parise’s arrival. Coincidence? Worth the big $$$$?

    Via (my) Facebook Page:

A wild win in St Louis scoring more than two goals and a Chicago loss in regulation would put an exponential point on the regular season. After struggling in the first half it would…

    – set a franchise goal total record
    – set an NHL record for consecutive road wins
    – move the Wild into 3rd place in the division

I would love to see Ottawa make it in too. They have had quite the run too in the second half pretty much mirroring what the Wild have done. What a story that final would be. If I was granted one NHL wish, that would be it. Second would be Tampa vs Wild in the finals.

I have no doubt that in an 82 game season on the first PP unit and getting top 6 minutes, Zucker would score 40+.

Yes, but then again the Wild have the best PK as well, and they are showing some signs of life on the man advantage side. Like last night. But more would be better for sure.

I was absolutely 100% positive that the refs were going to screw the Wild out of that goal by overruling it. It would be just the Wild’s luck to get shafted by the refs on that. As they showed the first replay I was absolutely convince they were going to look at the front view and declare that it went off the crossbar, not in the net. Because that’s what it looked like from that view, only the back/side view clearly showed it going all the way back into then net before bouncing out.

I was yelling at the TV, “These refs suck, these refs suck, …” before the refs were even back at center ice. And then they didn’t even review it.

So that was a nice surprise. Competent refs that make the right call on the ice and that’s it. Big difference from the Rangers game when one linesman didn’t understand icing and it was therefore being called two different ways in the same game.

I didn’t get get excited at first either. I didn’t think there was anyway that could have gone in. Not sure if you had the same video feed as Nashville but they were talking about having to go to the overhead. The next replay was from the back clearly showing the net being bent. They were like, “well I guess we won’t need the overhead”.

By the way the play by play guy was horrible. For example, Schroeder was carrying the puck into the zone and they called him Suter. Come on, not even the same size and for God’s sake you know Suter, you know, the guy who left who still gets booed???

I actually feel just the opposite. Game one winner doesn’t matter anymore. And it seems the wild need to have their backs against the wall to do their best. A split is the best I would hope for. Not saying they can’t sweep, I just don’t want to hit the panic button after 2 games.

Agree. They’re a very good road team and I think that will be a big factor in how deep they make it, or don’t make it.
I just got back in town and didn’t follow much but it sounds like Zucker came back strong.

Comes down to goaltending. Elliot or Allen for the Blues? Could create team problems early, I hope.

If Dubnyk remains hot, Wild just need to dent the twine a couple times each game.

Go WILD! Sorry but i think the Wild are still short a couple role players. Blues in 7. (Hope I’m wrong)
