Let's Go Wild!

I like the guys who aren’t scorers in the regular season that step it up in the playoffs. That started for me with Matthew Barnaby and Claude Lemieux. I am trying to think of candidates on our team. I think the obvious choice is Fontaine.

IMO, this is where the Wild have plenty of potential upside. Which is kind of a backhanded compliment when you think about it… But anyway, it would be nice to see a hot streak from, well, a number of players actually.

I’d love to see more production from any combination of Coyle, Grandlund, Haula, Brodz, and Fontaine. Interesting that as far as big goals, we had much to thank Granny and Haula for last season during the playoffs, so there are certainly goals and then there are big goals.

IMO only an idiot or the fans from Eastern teams would have the guile to go out and say “This is our year!”. The west is fiercely competitive and if anyone thinks their team is a sure thing into the finals, well, good luck to you. We’re now in April and only 1 team is a sure thing even in the playoff positions.

I think Nino and Coyle step it up this playoff season, the playoffs is all about dirty goals in front of the net, I think our bigger body players will be key… I think Dumba will score some bigtime goals too… If we can get Vanek to play hard for an entire game and actually shoot the puck, he could be the x-factor playing against the other team’s 3rd line…..

but ultimately it comes down to Duby playing lights out as he has the last few months…the teams that play for the cup always have the hottest goalies…

So I decided to look back and figure out the year Barnaby had his run and started me looking at guys who stepped it up in the playoffs.

    Matthew Barnaby - 97/98
    Season
    GP	G	A	P
    72	5	20	25
    Playoffs
    15	7	6	13

I think there we have the standard for who can win the Barnaby Break Out Award.

Based on that, these are the only guys I think are eligible
    Justin Fontaine
    Kyle Brodziak
    Mikael Granlund
    Erik Haula
    Matt Cooke
    Ryan Carter
    Jordan Schroeder

    …for an imaginary award

    …that I made up

It’s ok. No surley. No summit. Not even mich golden light.

Cigar city in Tampa is king and they are pretty good. I like Dogfish, especially the 90 minute ipa. But they are from Pennsylvania.

World of Beer is a bar chain with a huge selection. The bar down the street has 60 beers on tap and my favorite is a 12% abv made by monks.

We have a brewery 10 minutes away with a bar and they are good. Hourglass brewery is what they are called.

Enjoying the last of our grog during the game. The cherry undertones are delightful!

    Nice! That sounds good

Here’s my beer tonight. Indeed Haywire. My #1 favorite for a couple years now. This beer fad makes it tough to get the best beers. I’m lucky to get my hands on some. Yes that’s another bomber in the background.

Good game. Slow start cost them the victory. Should’ve been 3-1 wild with a good start. That’ll happen after 4 days off.

Can’t wait for Monday’s game. Got tickets. yay

Easily the worst referree job of the season. Really the Wild normally have to wait for the playoffs to see referreeing that bad.

Constant misses on icing calls! A complete clown show. It’s like the ref had a totally different idea of icing fron the rest of the league. One was blown dead after the wild shot it in when the Wild player was in the lead to touch first! Just awful.

The crowd started loudly cheering every time they got an icing call right. I couldn’t believe that was happening in a professional game. There were 4 icing calls that were just outright wrong, either the whistle blown early or blown after it was negated by the icing team touching fist.

But the slow start cost them.

I won’t be back to Minnesota until at least next summer. Wish I could afford to go back every summer and I wish I enjoyed flying.

what everybody was worried about happened, Wild came out flat for the 1st period and got into a hole they couldn’t crawl out of against a really good Rangers team. The 2nd & 3rd periods again showed what this team is capable of against the best team in the East, so no worries moving forward, just sucks when you know something is going to happen (Wild start out slow after 4 days off) and then you watch it play out that way…

Great game to have tickets to. It’s always lively when the Jets are in town. Be sure and drown them out, they get pretty loud.
You should have a sloppy dago at DeGideos beforehand.

Me too. Always fun to play the Jets and the place should be rocking tonight. There’s always a full contingent of Jets fans on hand so while it’s nice that they come down here and spend a ton of money at the MOA, it’s nice to send them home without a win.

Hopefully the Wild get it going early and often tonight.

If the wild were to lose, I’d be nervous that they are tired and the run caught up with them. But I expect a win. They have been responding well this half and I think the 4 day layoff was bad timing.

    …that’s my hope anyway.

Going old school. Because of MLB Extra Innings package using the same channels, I get to watch in SD. FML

Baseball. The only sport more exciting to listen to on the radio than watch on TV.

I went to the Detroit game Saturday night. Other then being impressed with the amount of Detroit fans in town the biggest thing I took away from that game is……….the shootout sucks. 8 rounds of blah. Just call it a tie and go home. What a waste.

You don’t like the skills competition? blech. Hopefully they change it for next year like they are talking. Fortunately the Wild haven’t had many shootouts this year.

10 minute overtime. 4 on 4 for the first 5 minutes and then 3 on 3 to the end. Really most anything is better then what they have.

Absolutely terrible game tonight. Boring, boring, boring. Wild didn’t have enough fire to light the candles on a 2 year old’s birthday cake. Bad passing, bad shooting, bad luck, bad refs (again). Bad, bad, bad.

I’ve been to the game for 3 of the last 4 Wild lossses. Gentlemen, we must face it. It’s me.

I’ll admit that Winnipeg played very well but the wild had nothing in the first half. They sucked the air right out of the building.

No one seemed to want to skate with the puck. Everyone wanted to pass it even though the jets had the trapped every time. Really frustrating to watch.

They still had plenty of good chances. At least the Kings only got 1 point.
