Our depth and 4th line should allow us to go deep. I said it before, but no team has an answer for our 4th line.

Are you familiar with the common mans preposterous statement tournament?

Don’t worry. I’ve got a few in this thread too.

    Hey now, wait a minute:

As Kings coach Darryl Sutter said recently of NHL fourth lines, “If they’re only five or six or seven-minute players, then you’re not a playoff team.”

scary game tonight… “should” be an easy 2 points as the Leafs are in shambles, but the home loss to the Oilers a few weeks ago should have been an easy 2 points..

Totally agree. This is one of those “In theory, the Wild should…”

Hopefully, they play this one like a must-win, because given the nature of the Wild’s season-end schedule, this game is a must win. There just isn’t going to be room for giving up any points.

Last weekend was a great weekend for MN Hockey.

    1. Congrats to the National Champ Gopher Women’s hockey team with a 4-1 beatdown of Harvard. Especially gratifying considering that the Harvard coach is the USA national team coach that cut Hannah Brandt from the team.

    2. Mankato, St. Cloud, and Duluth all advance to the NCAA. There are rumors that the U of M also advanced, but nobody knows for sure because nobody actually saw the game.

Telegraph reports out of Michigan have been slow in coming due to snow on the wires, prompting suggestions by some that the Big 10 conference should have their own TV channel. Perhaps moving the game to a Wednesday at 11:00 PM would help?

    3. In related news, thumbs down to the NCAA for AGAIN having a national championship hockey game that was not televised. Again.

    4. Another thumbs down to the organizers of the Big 10 men’s tournament. If the tournament would have been held in Ecuador, it would have attracted more attendance. It was an absolute embarrassment to the Big 10 to have such a poorly attended tournament.

Who would pay to televise a womans hockey game that 99.9 percent of television viewers wouldnt watch?

.1% of television viewers would be a phenomenal number for any hockey game.

When was the last time anyone wanted to watch darts on tv?

BC, We don’t want any distractions. Plenty of time in the offseason to get things done. Fletcher doesn’t want this on his mind or Doob’s. I’m sure he will be staying here. He said he likes it here and feels very comfortable here.

Yep, doobs makes it sound like he wants to stay. That would be phenomenal. Backs is getting bought out. It will also give Kuemper time to get more consistent.

I’ve enjoyed every woman’s hockey game I’ve watched. I’d watch that over darts…or the world cup soccer championship.

Man, that was a nail biter last night. The Wild had one of those nights where they were off by inches, but then they only needed one to trickle in for the shootout win.

Let’s not kid ourselves, Doobs is staying and he’s going to get a very nice 3 year contract. Pug is right, there’s no use in bringing in distractions when the outcome is a foregone conclusion.

Ironically, the Wild are actually probably going to be shopping for even more goaltenders. At the end of the season Harding is gone. Backstrom is gone at the first hint that his seat on the bus can be filled with a better prospect. So a minimum of 2 seats on the bus can be available and the Wild could go deeper if they needed to.

If the Wild could sweep these next 2 in regulation, they are basically in. Leading both Calgary and LA by 5 right now. Both have a game in hand on us, but they also play each other one more time, so the game in hand doesn’t matter. So if we win both in regulation, that means we would in the very least be 7 points up with 6 games remaining.

I am a little nervous about the final 4 games. Not because of who we are playing and needing the points, but more what could happen during those games, especially when the last 3 would be teams that could potentially be playing you in the 1st round, depending on what happens in the next week.

Of course the game in hand matters. Especially if the infamous 3 point game happens between Calgary and LA.

Anyway….we are loooking really good as it will be nearly impossible for 3 teams behind us to pass us and knock us out of the playoffs.

Even so, worse possible scenario if we swept in regulation would be us up 6pts with 6 to go. And being that the Wild own the tie breaker, you might as well make it 7 with 6 to go.

Obviously sweeping in regulation at home in back to back games against teams vying for the 3rd in Pacific, 7th and 8th playoff position this late in the season is a bit of a pipe dream. Just saying it would be nice if they did, because then I’d feel like we are in and set up the opportunity to rest some guys.

Whineypeg won putting some heat on. I think we can beat Calgary in regulation, but LA is doing their seasonal playoff push. They are 2 from moving into second place in the pacific.

Tonight’s game is probably the most important. Tomorrow’s game will be tough being the second of a back to back, the flames should be easier than the kings, and we should be rested today.

Don’t call me captain obvious but it appears as though they are peaking right now. There just appears to be tons of confidence right now.

Well that was a nice break…

I’m really feeling good about this team now. Healthy and deep.

I’d kind of like to see them sign Stewart, but I don’t see them tying up money in him. It’s nice having a tough guy on the team who isn’t wasting space.

another scary game tonight after a long layoff…we need a combination of 5 more points or a couple of losses by the Kings & Jets in the remaining 5-6 games to secure a spot…The Kings and Jets could only max out at 100 points if they win out the rest of the reason…We own the tiebreaker

Big game tonight and the eldest son and I will be there. Of course they’re kind of all big games now…

Hopefully the Wild come off of the break with a lot of energy and look sharp. The field is narrowing as far as potential playoff matches, but the best situation is the Wild to keep doing their thing.

CNBC sports commentators were talking earlier this week about the Wild being the team that nobody wants to play and nobody has an answer for right now. There isn’t a “do this” type of formula to beating the Wild. They don’t come unglued in the third, you can’t muscle them, you can’t beat the Wild with superior depth, you can’t plan on scoring much on the power play, and the Wild are dangerous on offense through all 4 lines.

    Keep on keeping on, Wild.

I’m really trying to hold in my excitement about this team because the NHL playoffs are the most grueling in all of sports, so anything can happen. They have ALL the tools to be successful and the other big advantage is that they are HEALTHY and have DEPTH, both are huge because you know there will be injuries when playing 7 game series against bruiser teams like the Ducks and Blues..

If we could just figure our powerplay, then I see no weaknesses on this team…

Yeah, you never know. That’s why I usually hold back, but I think things are shaping up to where I can now say they are a top team. Going forward, season ahead, we should be good if the goalie situation stabilizes.

I really hope Zucker gets back in time to play in the playoffs. For the obvious, but also to get him some playoff experience.

I like the guys who aren’t scorers in the regular season that step it up in the playoffs. That started for me with Matthew Barnaby and Claude Lemieux. I am trying to think of candidates on our team. I think the obvious choice is Fontaine.
