I’d like to see Yeo fired now. Mainly to see how the team reacts, not verbally but how they react on the ice. I think it could be very telling and would help evaluate talent as opposed to waiting until the season ends. I think they’re just so mentally fouled up right now and would like to see what the coaching change would trigger.

Well, here we are, 2 days after loss number 11 in the last 13, and Yeo is still coach…

So are the Wild owners and Fletcher just declaring that 2014-15 season is writeoff? Surrender this season and declare next season a “rebuilding year”, fresh start, new leadership, insert all the clichés here?

With the vast improvements other western teams have made, I think DOD Day (do or die) is going to come much earlier this year then it has in the past 2 seasons where the Wild could finally figure it out late in the season and scramble to make the playoffs.

So is that the Wild ownership’s message to the fans? Sorry bout this year, but keep coming to games while we ride it out with Yeo and just wait until next year.

Man, it must be awesome to be a coach in MN, where failure is rewarded with an extra 6 months to allow failure to blossom into epic failure.

    Yeo must go.

Couple of interesting things in Russo’s game day:

By the time we were done, I turned around and was stunned to realize the doors were closed and there was not one person in the room besides Crosby and I during the entire interview. I looked at the clock and it was 11:30 a.m., the start time for the Wild’s skate. So 35 minutes after Crosby had left the ice, he was still talking to the media, still wearing his gear.

That really says something right there about Crosby.

Sure does. That the guy loves the attention.

I’ll also write my game notebook in tomorrow’s paper on Crosby’s thoughts on Wild coach Mike Yeo and how much influence Yeo had on his career as a longtime Pens assistant. He’s obviously rooting for Yeo right now to survive this adversity. I’ll have all the quotes in tomorrow’s paper, but a taste:

“I’m sure they’ll find a way to get themselves out of this,” Crosby said. “They’ve got a good team. You look at their team, the depth that they have, we all go through that where it doesn’t matter what you do, it seems like the puck’s in your net. It’s just a matter of fighting to get out of it. But Mike is always good in those situations. When things got tough here and we went through adversity and tough times, Mike was a big reason why we got out of it.”

Endorsed by Spud? That’s it, Yeo Must Go!

The hits just keep on coming tonight. 6-2 Pens as the defensive lapses keep killing the Wild.

But all is not lost for the Wild. The Big Guns are back on track with scoring tonight, 1 from Brodin and 1 from Fontaine. whistling Well, somebody’s got to do it.

Listening to the Fan tonight with Lou Nanne, the playoffs already almost out of reach. We would need a team to tank, even if the Wild got back on track. Not a good situation.

Pens just scored again. 7-2. Total humilation.

I’m sure Sid does have good memories of Yeo. Nothing to do with him as a head coach, it’s easy to look good when you’re not in charge and the team wins the cup.

    Yeo must go.

Yes, where did you see that? Don’t see anything on Russo’s Twitter feed and nothing on the 10 PM news.

    Yeo REALLY must go.

I’d be surprised if they can him during the season. Whats to be gained? They won’t make a magical play-off run with somebody else. There will be more candidates after the season. For now you end up with some interm guy.Plus you gotta pay him whether you fire him or not.

I don’t care if he stays or goes at this point. Might as wait until after the season is over.

You don’t necessarily get an interim guy at this point.

I usually believe the same thing, but with so many things wrong it would be impossible to name, something has to give. That’s why I am giving up on critiquing anymore games. Maybe I should try the positives.

    – They are getting a lot of shots
    – They are creating a lot of turnovers
    – They, hmmm, that’s about it

The next game should be good. Suter will be feeling shame on a 2 game hiatus. Faulk is hurt. So we get the greenhorn Dumba meaning lots of chances being taken. Be ready forwards needing to cover the pinching D.

As bad as the goalies play, the D is not taking care of rebounds or denying players in scoring areas. It would be cool to see goal charts of the Wild vs Opponents. Our opposition gets a lot of goals in tight. Our guys can’t get there and when they do cannot convert.

I like Suter’s quote. “Suter said he was reaching for puck and went to put hand back on stick when elbow came out”. My guess is Cook coached him on that answer.

As I mentioned earlier I would be really curious to see how they would play if he were fired now. Would they play harder, faster and with a sort of rejuvenation?
It would be a good form of troubleshooting.

I was watching the pregame last night and they threw a stat up that showed that we are only something like 4pts behind the pace we were on last year. But as someone else has said the other teams in the west seem to have gotten ALOT better in the off season.

Ha, just listening and apparently a listener is as desperate, frustrated and delusional as me.

He has inside information that players are going behind Yeo’s back to management and don’t be surprised if DeBoer or Carlyle.

Did PA just say Yeo wasn’t interested in getting Vanek?

PA has a good take. Not likely Yeo goes. That would be an indictment on Fletch. So if Yeo would go there is a good chance that Fletch goes. I do not want that to happen. He’s made some bad moves and handcuffed himself with the goaltending, but I don’t want Fletch to move. Just compare him to Risebrokaugh. He’s built something here. No matter what happens this year, the younger guys will have matured.

My point with Yeo is why delay? If that’s the direction than that direction won’t change by letting Yeo fail and the team flounder for 40 more games.

If they’re going to fire him, fire him and buy the new coach an extra 4 months of time to work with the team rather than waiting for the end of the season.

The “points behind last season” argument is bogus because this was just the beginning of the funk the Wild went into last year when they couldn’t find their puck with both hands. Ahead/behind last year is not a comparison because it’s only relevant against where the playoff teams sit in the standings NOW. The Jets are up 7, which was NOT the case last year.

I agree with a KFAN caller last night, the Wild’s D is significantly worse than they’re being given credit for. The goaltending is a problem within a problem, had we had one of the top 5 netminders in the league, the result last night would have been shaved from a 7-2 blowout to a 5-2 game. That isn’t exactly going to make a difference because a loss is a loss.

    Yeo must go.

Or if the Wild would start burying gifts other teams gave them, capitalize once in a while on prime scoring chances or score on the PP once in a while, the score would have been 5-4.

Also, was that beat guy PA was talking to actually ragging on the 4th line or was he ragging on the other 3 in his rant?

Not a horrible move. He’s streaky, but if the Wild gets a little confident in its own end, he could end up putting up Bryzgolov numbers (last year). Makes me wonder what happens to Backstrom once Kuemper returns.

Yeah, I think backs will be the odd man out because Devan will most certainly be back next year, not like Bryz last year.
You never know what can cause a spark, improved defense would be nice to make this guy feel welcome.

Me thinks being on the hook for $4M next year, Backs will be back. He’ll be a spendy back up. They’ll be done with Harding.

Fleury, Ramo and Niemi are potential free agents next year, unless any have already been extended. I am looking at an article from October.

I assume Fleury re-signs, unless he has another sub par playoffs, at which point, why take him. He’ll still command decent money in any event and I’d only want him to push Kuemper.

I also assume Niemi re-signs too, but maybe the Sharks are ready to run with Stalock. I think he’d be a good pick up.

That leaves us with the more likely scenarios, Ramo or Dubnyk. This is fine with me if Kuemper finally pulls his head out of his rear. When Kuemper is on, he’s great, but when he stinks, he’s bad.

I wouldn’t want to be in Fletch’s shoes. Best scenario for him is Kuemper finds his NHL legs by the end of the year making his (Fletch) job easier.

I am soooooooooo disappointed. If you put a baseball, basketball & a hockey puck on the table. You would need to allow PA 3 chances to pick the hockey puck. Seriously, if you want to learn something about hockey you would be better off asking Sid. smirk

Yeah, $2M comes off the books with him. Too bad he screwed up this year. It could have been a nice story for a guy facing so much in his life. And he is also a likable guy. He could have tested free agency and probably landed a starting gig a few years ago, but instead re-signed.
