Legacy iPilot link large colourscreen remote freezes/becomes unresponsive

I’m having some trouble with my iPilot link remote. The remote is the legacy large colourscreen iPilot link remote, says “FCC ID: T62-IPREM20, IC: 4397A-IPREM20, Model : IPREM20” on the inside of the battery tray. I’m using the remote with a Powerdrive V2 with iPilot Link (no bluetooth).

The problem I’m having is that the remote will randomly freeze without any form of error message – it will simply become unresponsive but the screen is still on. Opening the battery tray and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery solves the problem but that’s rather inconvenient since the motor keeps running and the battery tray has to be unscrewed to open. The only troubleshooting I’ve done is measure the battery and at full charge it puts out 4.09V, which I’m assuming is fine? Any advice on how to solve this? )

Thanks a lot for any help! )

I run my powerDrive IPilot Link mostly from my Humminbird screen menu. Connect your IPilot powerDrive to the Humminbird through the ethernet, works great and gives you a reasonable follow the contour functions…(must have LakeMaster map chip)

My remote hardly ever comes out…

    He’s not asking for a work-around.

Oscar – sounds like firmware. Check to make sure you are using the most recent firmware on BOTH the controller and the remote.
    remote – 2.040
    controller – 2.150

If not follow instruction in manual to update FW.

This may very well be the problem – just checked the remote and it is running v1.150. I’ll go to the garage and try to update the firmware tomorrow and see what happens, only problem is I won’t know whether it worked or not until I’m out fishing as the remote sometimes works for 45mins-1hour without any issues

You will need to update FW on the remote, i-pilot controller (in the head), and your humminbird unit (do this one first).

    Good luck.
