    WEST NEWTON, Minn. (KTTC) –
Authorities are investigating the discovery of human remains along the Mississippi River south of Wabasha.

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office says it received a call Saturday at 4:50 p.m.

Someone had found a shoe and a human leg in a pile of debris along the river in West Newton, south of Lock and Dam #4.

Authorities searched the area again Sunday and found no other items of interest.

The sheriff’s office says it will release more information following a report from the Medical Examiner.

With multiple different types of current, eddy’s, wind, etc, if you have no idea where/when/how/if he was able to swim/etc, it’s all just a guess.

Man, strange things afoot in the Mississippi these days…

Crazy to think what kind of oddities and horrors are kicking around on the big muddy.

Some people claiming foul play I’ve seen, but they really don’t have a leg to stand on evidence wise.

An article in tonight’s Rochester paper indicated that since the sail boater went missing its not unlikely that all the meat would be off the bones by now. They’re doing the dna thing now and say maybe a couple days yet before there’s anything conclusive on the sailor. No clue as to whether the leg came from a guy or a woman. Finding that in a weed clump would have to be a rude awakening.

Have you seen what an eagle will do to a deer? I wouldn’t rule that out if some one washed up on log jam. The amount of eagles in that area, someone could of been easily picked apart
