The walleye bite over the last week has been getting better. If you can cover some water you will find fish relating to transition areas. Some of the bigger fish have also been found quite shallow in pockets within larger areas of vegetation. Looks like the cat is out of the bag regarding the smallmouth action. Lots of fish between 14 and 19 inches. Drop shot rigs over larger boulders have produced well in depths of 12-15ft. A 5 pound fish is not out of the question! They are a blast and not just when walleyes might be slow. Get out there and try them. I suspect coming years are going to be surprising. Musky fishing has been a bit tougher for me this week for some reason. Most days you will see fish but not that many larger fish and getting them to go is not easy. A larger percentage have been hooked at the boat lately. Work on those figure 8 skills.

I’m going to be on Pine Point over the weekend. Any suggestions on patterns to try for the walters?

Nice eating sized fish are being had on sand grass flats. Try perch or craw colored shads in 10 to 15 feet and cover some water until you find fish.

Walleye fishing was slower yesterday…but we made up for it! Derek got his first Musky! Big smallies are still available as well. Con Man…good to see you at Sugar Point! Headed out shortly…
