Just wondering what people are using for line as ive been told braid will spook them in clear water? Any suggestions would be great and thanks.

Braid to mono/flouro leader, learn the seaguar knot it’s the best line to line connection out there

I rarely ever choose a line based on how visible it is to fish. I feel it’s very overrated. This is my personal experience. In fact, I always gravitate toward high visibility lines.

Regarding braid over mono, there’s pros and cons to each.

    Braid
    Pros
No stretch, great for deep water
    Extremely sensitive
    High visibility to the angler
    Sinks
    Small diameter
    Long life

    Cons
    Ices up in cold weather
    Expensive
    Need backing
    snags on ice easily
    not extremely durable
    Can’t use with a bobber

    Mono
    Pros
    Resists ice up
    Doesn’t snag on ice
    Resists abrasions
    Inexpensive
    Use with a bobber

    Cons
    Floats
    Stretches

You need to decide what you need for your situation. Some of the pros can be cons ( and vice versa) in some situations.

Braid is on most of reels and I always have a mono or fluoro leader.

I’d argue that braid is far less visible to the angler in certain applications and colors. I’d also add a “Con” to braid that it is highly visible under water. In some situations this is not an issue. I have seen plenty of situations where it is an issue however.

I can agree with that on some occasions.

I just go against the grain when it comes to visibility to fish. I can’t say it’s ever been the difference between success or failure for me.
