Thought I’d take a few minutes to post a update on our Leech lake Fall trip. We fished Leech from Friday thru Tuesday morning. Overall fishing was a bit tough. Fairly high winds made fishing more difficult than I would have liked. We did manage some decent Perch. Most all Perch seemed to come in 6-9 FOW. Some of the most productive spots were Sand point, Miller Bay, Agency Narrows, Cedar Point, and on the West side of Minnesota island. We did also manage a few walleyes in each of these areas as well. As far as the walleye fishing went it was tough fishing for us. The few area’s we did manage to catch a few Eyes in were: Big Hardwoods point ( 9-13 FOW ) Diamond Point ( 12-15 FOW ) Grandview flats ( 9-15 FOW ) I want to give a big thank you to Josh at Trappers Landing. He was nice enough to put us on a few nice fish in his area – Including a 23″ and 24 ” Walleye and several Perch in the 13-13.5″ range. Trapper Landing looks like a great lodge. I know we will be looking into staying there on future trips to Leech lake. Anyone looking for a nice place to stay give Josh a call. They look to be running several GREAT fall packages right now. Josh is a Great guy and will help get you on some fish. Thanks again Josh for all your help.

Leech can be tough if she’s blowing and you can’t stay out/in the area you want to.

I’m heading up to Cass tomorrow and leech next Wednesday. Not loving the weather forecast wish it was 10 degrees cooler. That being said most of the reports I’ve read have been positive.

Some cooler weather would help the bite for sure. Water temps still to warm to get those fish fired up for the fall bite just yet. It should get better each day from here on. Good luck. Hope mother nature gives you a break while you are up there.

Glad I was able to help you out fishing and glad to meet you. Hopefully we see you next year. I think these last couple cool days should really help the fishing.

How did you end up on your outing on Tuesday afternoon after we talked with you on you way back out? Hope you did well.

Here are a couple pictures from that day. It was a good day on the lake it sounds like. Caught everything with jig/rainbow minnow and the perch were going good in our close weedy bay.

A smallmouth – Those are not all that common out there are they? Some nice looking fish there. Don’t think I’ll get a chance to get back up your way this season. Will look you up next summer or fall when its time to book our group trip. Take it easy !!!

Actually we caught a lot of smallmouth this year and they are big. I think they are pretty common on this end of the lake, we actually have caught some fish over 20″. Look forward to seeing you next year.

Better be careful. You know those smallmouth are what caused the decline of all the walleyes on Mille’ Lacs don’t you jester rotflol
