I know a lot of people go up to Leech to chase the Walleye or Pout. I’m taking my Dad up there in a few weeks and have only fished the lake once in my life. We’re looking for some tips on crappies and gills. Any help would be great. I’m trying to make it a great experience for my old man and myself. Thanks!

I would stick to the bays, ask around at a bait shop for tips. Like Trent said, people are generally not going to give away info about the crappies.

Trent, look up Phil Bauerly. You’ll find him in the leech leech lake forum here or his website is called outright angling… Phil is the man. I’m sure he could help point you in the right direction and even better if it worked out you wouldn’t find a much better guy to spend a day on the ice with.

Thanks for the information fellas. We are not coming up to bring home a bunch of fish. Mainly just catch and release as we are from the deep south of Minnesota and are up north for a week. Will, I will definitely be looking up Phil. Thanks again for responding to my message guys! Tight lines!
