Hey guys we are planning a trip to Leech this weekend and wondering about ice conditions. We plan to take 1/2 tons and single axle castles. TIA

16-18″ Horseshoe bay this weekend. Fishing was extremely slow and a ton of wheel houses. No houses larger than 22′ and only 1/2 ton trucks.
Walker Bay – not sure but we did see vehicles driving with single axle houses.
Pine Point/Grand View – heard there was 14″ from a guy in town. Just small perch and tullibees.

My Cousin is currently fishing out of Trappers Landing. Driving 1/2 tons.
He said the Eelpout bite is on!
I texted him yesterday to see how it was going and what the house were like.
He said fishing was slow and they just got done washing the football game from the leather recliners. He said the house are the nicest he’s ever seen.
They are going to try walker bay for perch this am.
The reels were not rattlin last night. cry

Was working in Northern MN last week and fished walker bay on a wheeler on my way home Saturday am. No vehicles on the bay for good reason.

I drilled a bunch of holes and found mostly 10” but ran into 7”. I’m sure there are thinner spots, snow is on the bay and it’s hard to spot the cracks and weaker ice.

Walker bay is over 100’ deep so it’s nowhere near ready to drive on as the ice will be thinner there. I never went near the deep water areas.

Just wanted to post this in light of what’s going on in South Dakota. Looking at weather forecast right now for up there and no way should vehicles be out on walker bay this coming weekend.

    and no fish btw…

Trappers posted last night their ice road will not be open to the public for the season. Only guests of the resort. Also the restaurant is closed.
