Any recommendations on a good campground?

Tentative plan is a mid-October cast n’ blast. Bringing an RV that will pull the 16ft duck boat and then another truck pulling the sparkly fishing boat. 4 guys total. Stony Point looks like a nice and central spot on the lake but it appears they close for business at the end of September. The other spot I found on a quick google was the “New” campground up in Portage Bay. $33/night with electric hook ups seem like a solid rate. Anyone have experience at either place or anywhere else? I also saw there is a campground near the Federal Dam but that seems a bit out of the way.

Where are good spots to find fish that time of year? Is the north a good place to be? My boat is capable of running all over the lake, just would rather not if we could find a good bite near where we camp. We will primarily be looking for walleyes. My only experience on Leech was this past July and we spent all our time rigging in Walker Bay.

I was going to suggest Federal Dam. It also is in Portage Bay. Some darn good fishing right outside of the entrance to the channel that leads to Federal Dam. Nice campground with an awesome cleaning house/bathrooms that was built maybe 3-4 years ago…RR

Red tail chubs in walker bay is a solid tactic that time of year. Sorry, but I am not familiar with any campgrounds in the walker bay area.

I’m at the Federal Dam rec area right now. Really impressive. Tuck I was walking around on Thursday and saw a Tuckner written on one of the sites, can’t remember where though. Perch are just start to move into Waboose, good walleye bite. Just battling the waves is getting old

We stayed here on my first trip there, located on the south side of Pine Point and across from Stony. Had a boat harbor so it was perfect for us!!!

You won’t need to leave portage bay if you stay there. Good duck hunting and good fishing that time of year. All you will need are jigs/minnows, go down to battle point, sugar point if you have a west or south wind, and fish the channel into federal dam. Duck hunting just head north into waboose bay, or set up just to the north. Lots of ducks up there. If you stay in stony you can go into agency for perch and into walker bay to rig, that’s always fun, then hunt near goose island, or up in the bays.
