Heading to leech tomorrow for a week and wondering what’s been working for eyes recently? Guessing it is slow with no recent reports. I will be staying on pine point. Any advise would be appreciated?

Sometimes its good when no reports are given!
Means fish are being caught and nobody is giving up info waytogo
Fish weed lines in the am & pm and mid lake humps during the day for starters

My intel is none, but been gathering as much info on Leech this year. Typical tough late summer bite as far as I’ve heard.

That whole area going over the DNR lake finder has many other lakes within 20min that look just as intriguing as Leech. Some bodies of water just have better bites going than others. You have a whole week, if Leech strikes out after day 2 I’d look elsewhere.

Hopefully Phil Bauerly will see this and chime in. He’s a great guy that guides on Leech and is always willing to share tips.

    Jeff,

You should find walleyes on shallow and/or mid depth flats. Wind always helps a bit but during peak time frames you should get your share. I like to troll #7 shad raps this time of year focusing on the 9 to 13 foot mark to start. Sand grass flats like those east and north of Goose Island. Close to your location! Try perch, purple/white, crawfish for starters. 10/4 Fireline or similar braid will get the baits down. Check them often…if you touch bottom at all you will likely get some sand grass on ’em. If the wind is howling get shallower on places like Big Hardwood and others. Right before dark and after you can find fish from Cedar Point to Sand Point. Again, shallow flats from 5 to 10 feet. Let us know how you do! That should get you started. There are lots of locations if you don’t like having company near you. N. end of Walker Bay ids no secret…

A little birdy told me that the bobbers and leeches didn’t “float” to well today (Monday) in the waves–3-5ft. of water. Just sayin’!

Well my leech lake vacation has come and gone. Caught most of my eyes trolling #7 shad raps, perch and black and silver seemed to work best. Most were caught around the goose island area. Walleyes were slow so I made up by casting and trolling in sucker Bay for Northerns in the cabbage which was more productive. Also came across a good largemouth bite in the shallow weed clumps in the narrows. Picked off some nice ones casting scum frogs in the pockets of lily pads and weeds. Casting buzz baits on the outer reeds also was productive. Thanks everyone for all the friendly info.
