The son and I made our first trip ever to Leech Lake. I can tell you it won’t be our last. We stayed at Spirt of the North resort. Wow what a place the hospitality and cabins are top notch. A nice harbor to dock your boat friendly and always ready to give you a hand. I would recommend staying their to anyone. The owners and staff are the best. Very friendly and down to earth people. Now on to the fishing my son and I stuck to fishing reefs 11 to 15 foot of water. Running Lindy rigs. I’m new to Lake fishing but it worked for us. We caught multiple walleyes in the slot. Plus some big girls from 27 to 28 1/2 inches.

We were using 7 foot snell with a red leech hook and one red bead or a gold bead. With a 3/8 snagless bottom sinker. Moving the bait .4 to .5 mph. As AL Linder said never fished a leech faster than it can swim. True idk but it definitely worked for us. Very excited to learn how to fish lakes with more tactics.New to all of it, completely different from river fishing in ways.
