Leech Bass

  • #2054529

Been hearing more and more talk about Leech lake bass (both largemouth and smallmouth). I’m heading up in a few weeks and I’m looking for a distraction from walleye fishing.
I know that most people fish wild rice for the largemouths, but are there fish to be had on weedlines? I’ve also heard that the smallmouth get pretty big as well. Not asking for spots, just general areas/depth/structure.

Appreciate it, and I’ll update you on how it goes

For smallmouth find rocks. Stoney point would be a good place to start.
I think they’re largemouth throughout the lake. If you find good habitat you’ll find the fish. Steamboat bay, or the northern end of Sucker bay is where I’d start.
