Leech area bait supply

Spent this last weekend at Leech fishing Fed Dam area and also Walker Bay. Pulled cranks mostly because I couldn’t find any supply of minnows (chubs or rainbows). I didn’t ask too many questions as to why since it appeared that the places I stopped at were annoyed with the lack of bait supply as well.

So what gives? Was it the recent rain that caused the shortage? Or did I just stop at the wrong places.

Leeches did alright on the humps in Walker, but pulling cranks deeper produced the best.

I know that Full stringer has some good bait supply down in Longville. Just this time of year its mainly families and not a lot of fisherman in the area. So keeping those large minnows alive is hard thing for most of those bait shops and resorts. You can catch fish without minnows right now anyways.
