Leave the Leaves!

Part of our yard at the new house has 80+ trees where the previous homeowner mowed a few times a year and spent lord-only-knows how many hours cleaning up. The area is also on a steep hill….

I’m letting that area go back to nature.

Every minute wasted on lawn care is a minute wasted not fishing

We spent Friday afternoon in the little boat chasing walleyes instead of cleaning up 15,000,000 leaves. You only live once mrgreen

May none of you ever get to experience the particular pleasure of a large linden tree. Gd helicopter berry thingies, (and swarms of wasps that accompany them), all summer long, and 4 phase leaf dispersal in the fall, as in enough leaves to bury the yard 4 separate times, with the last coming only with heavy snowfall ..

always leave my leafs alone, except for some mulching, much to the displeasure of some of my neighbors who have already done their yards 5 times this fall. I did not move up north to be a slave to my yard/

My grass would be dead in the spring if I left them. They were cleaned up Monday and this was this morning.

Yep! One year my sliver leaf maples didnt dump their leaves until we got a foot of snow so they were all on top of the snow. So I had to put the snowblower on to obviously blow the snow and I wasnt going to bag the leaves anymore that next spring I had so much mold and all sorts of other issues because they were literally a foot deep when the snow melted shortly after it falling like crazy. I had to reseed a bunch of areas.

I cant see my front lawn and all this rain is keeping us from doing anything about it. Looks like next week is going to be busy in the evenings after work…. bawling

Yeah and its going to really cool down, but the end of the week warms up. We are going to get multiple hard freezes here in the next 5 days, I better blow out the garden hoses. Well, one is already busted so to heck with that one.

Well you (and Mother Nature) won this round Sharon, leaves will be staying on my lawn until it melts and dries out or spring, whichever comes first!
