Plug and play. Got the same deal, picked it up last night. I would suggest running a 5amp inline fuse between the battery and your electronics (ran my helix 5 si without a fuse for a couple years without a fuse and it was fine).

Also, at the bottom of this page there is a chart showing the estimated run time for your unit based on the power draw for all sorts of electronics. These should be pretty accurate due to the flat discharge curve of the lithium battery. Your screen brightness will probably be the biggest power draw on the battery.

mrpike just be aware that battery power indicator on the Helix 5 will not show an accurate value for the lithium battery.

Be sure the battery is over 32 degrees when you charge it. Otherwise it will be ruined. This is due to chemical makeup of LiPO4 batteries.

Yes it will but is nowhere near accurate.

The link that Luttes posted will give a general guideline as to how long it will last for all kinds of depth finders.

This is key, those batteries probably have a basic BMS with no temp monitoring.Even the life of discharged SLA batteries will be shortened by trying to charge them frozen.
One of those thermal soft-pack bags with a hand warmer would work well.
