Have any of you made the move to lead free tackle? If so, what materials are you using and what are your thoughts?

I bought some lead-free split shots and plan on trying them in the 2023 season. They’re tin and look shinier than the lead split shots. I also see that there are lead-free worm weights so I might get some of those. What about regular weights (like for bottom fishing) and replacements for leaded jigs?

    Thanks.

I’d have no problem moving to lead free in place of split shots and slip sinkers. I hate split shots and often use slip sinkers and a swivel under a bobber. Jig heads are another story. I pour my own and would be very disappointed if I was forbidden from making my own tackle.

Seems like most bans are for tackle 1-2 oz or less. So anything over that like snap weights, bottom bouncers and downrigger balls would likely be excluded.

As for the benefit, I still have never seen data that shows any impact on wildlife populations due to lead tackle. We always see stories in the news saying x number of loons or bald eagles had died of lead poisoning while never explaining the overall impact.
