Is it my imagination that it looks like south of the Hudson bridge is breaking up faster than up by Bayport?

Probably. There’s more current from the train bridge to 94 so it stays open all winter. That gap of open water starts to eat at the ice when it warms allowing the wind to push it around. In Bayport, it’s pretty much locked up from above Stillwater all the way to the train bridge. You don’t have the same current so it generally takes longer to thaw.
