Lazer hand auger exact hole sizes?

    Hey Guys………..
Who could measure after cutting a hole what the sizes are in the real world. I have a 7″, but any measure of a size would answer it. Does a 6, 7, or 8 really cut that size? I’m working on a little project where it’s going to be important to know the actual end result.

    Thanks.

    Rick,
I don’t have a measurement for you but I can tell you this; the holes size will vary day to day and hole to hole. Too many variables to have a consistent exact size. not in any particular order: (a) auger wobble (b) auger perpendicular or drilling at an angle thru the ice (may or may not affect your application) (c) style and type of blade, chipper, curved lazer, straight mora (d)centering point or no centering point (e) ice thickness
Some of these variables will apply only between different augers. Some of the variables will come into play even on the same auger from day to day.

EDIT; I do see from the title you specified a Lazer hand auger so that may eliminate some of the mentioned variables.

How quickly do you need measurements? I’ve got a 6″ Lazer, but it’ll be a few days before I can get to a lake.

HuntinDave……Thanks for the reply. Some good reminders of some of the variables in play.

Ralph….no hurry, and I’m assuming you’ll be doing it on an actual trip to fish. Certainly no special trip needed for this item. Thanks for the efforts.

    Ralph,
I want to come up with a way to get a decent amount of water out of a hole to fill coolers, etc., etc.
If the hole I was using was a 10″, I’d just use some type of hand scoop, and could probably make quick work of it, but maybe still get wet gloves. …but seeing I only do a 7″, I’m thinking some type of hand scoop is not going to cut it. I’m thinking of maybe going the biggest O.D. PVC pipe I can fit in the 7″ hole….make it as long as feasible, put a cap on one end, cut in a couple hand handles on the other end, and also on the same handles end, cut a couple slots deeper in than the handles to let the water fill it without my gloves having to get to the waterline.
    Anyway…that’s what I’m tinkering with.

Seems like too much r&d for simply scooping water out of a hole. But anyways…. lots of water needed = pump. Not a lot = a small bucket with a long handle on the top. like an ice scoop but with more scoop and less holes on the bottom.

I use a coleman thermos for my 8 inch holes.
You could also try a punch bowl ladle
