Layout for 2 man flip, LVS; hang heater?

Asked this question in another forum and not getting great answers other than I may need to cut back on gear, but that just won’t work :). Side doors, 2 man Yukon Thermal flip. I like to cut two holes for each of us, 4 total, for jigging and deadstick. These fishing holes get cut in the front corners for deadsticks, then closer to our feet for jigging. I cut the livescope ducer hole between the two seats and very close to the sled. This allows me to put the livescope unit/monitor in the middle of the 4 holes and the buddy heater in the front of the shack. It works ok, but always interested in improving and trying to get more room. In the back of my flip I keep rod boxes, tackle, cooler, minnow bucket, and hang coats.

My question is if anyone has hung their buddy heater from the horizontal poles in the front of a flip shack? I’ve seen people do it with vexilars, which don’t have much of a weight difference, the back of the buddy doesn’t get hot, I know heat rises but most days we get cooked out of that thermal with the buddy on low so that isn’t a concern. This would get one thing off the floor for me. Anyone ever do or see this, Or maybe other configurations?

Hanging the heater would likely put it too close to the fabric roof and you’d burn a hole quickly…

    Here’s my setup:
I drill 5 holes in my Otter Cabin and use a milk carton with 1 side of it cut out.

1st hole is drilled in the upper corner, 2nd hole is drilled in front of the seat far enough away to allow for full hookset without hitting the roof, LVS hole drilled right in the middle about a foot from the front of the fabric, mirror the other two holes on the other side.

deadsticks in the upper corner holes, jigging in the main holes, FFS in the middle hole with milk crate ontop of the hole and FFS shuttle ontop of the milk crate, ducer pole handle is accessible under the crate via the cutout side. Buddy heater set in front of the milk crate with enough space to turn the FFS ducer pole.

I think the way you are setting it up is fine, Only thing I would maybe add would be to grab one of the large clam milk crates, stand it on end, put the FFS in it and put the heater on top. Stack them.

I happen to have two of those exact blue clam crates… that may just do the trick! Such knowledge in this group, awesome. I haven’t given up on hanging the heater yet and will toy around while on the ice this year. Some paracord, hung down far enough to not burn the ceiling….hmmmm ;). Thank you.

If you hang the heater could you put some reflective type insulation above it to help prevent burning a hole in the roof?

Reflectix is what I would use, I just dont think hanging it is a good idea I cant see how the heat would radiate down.

Hanging it – if you decide to go this route then a small portable fan to blow some of the heat down would be recommended. Even if you do not hang the heater a fan still has its benefits.
