I read on the forum that everyone is getting ready for ice fishing. Hey I’m in no hurray. When the wind permits the late fall pike fishing is great. Does anyone else taking advantage of this phenomena? I’ve been getting lots of nice girthy toothy critters (28 to 38)”.

Mississippi river is 35 degrees as of this morning. Couldn’t believe it when i seen it. Quick drop from the mid 40’s.

What is your favorite method? Casting or trolling? We primarily troll in the fall. Crankbaits, big spoons, or spinners to covers the water column in the Mississippi backwaters.

I cast right off the edge of the rapidly dying weedbed with jerkbaits “Big Rapala’s and Savage 4-Plays” and plastic “life Like Pike” pullbaits. In the lake that I do most of my pike fishing it drops off quick right off the weed edge. That’s where they are in the fall. The nice thing in the fall is the bigger fish that suspend all summer and are harder to find, come in relatively shallow, (8 to 16)’.
