Okay, you guys are a very convincing crowd. It’s about time I start saving to do this! Where do I start to see if I’m even a candidate for LASIK? My regular eye doctor? I don’t even know what clinics provide this service. Any suggestions would be great. Feel free to PM me if you’d prefer over replying to the post. Thanks!

Youngfry, I am jealous! My eyes aren’t bad, but I do notice that they aren’t great. I wear glasses when I feel like it but I don’t like wearing them doing outdoor activities. I notice that when driving in a car and stuff, other people seem to notice things such as a pheasant in a ditch that I never notice. And when practicing Archery, I usually can’t tell where my arrow hit without walking up closer to inspect it.

    Ralphy… welcome to the world.

Sharon, you should be able to get a consult from a lasik specialist… I wouldn’t trust what a regular eye doctor told me…. not that they are bad but they’re not the ones doing the operation. My consult prior to committing to the operation was free… and if I had opted out or not been a good candidate then it still would have been free. So there’s not much risk in just checking into it. I would do my homework to find someone that has an excellent track record. The place I went was in Colorado and they went above and beyond to make sure my experience was perfect. They were very meticulous about doing everything perfect but they were also honest about all the possibilities. If you’re not comfortable with the place… go somewhere else.

The operation is really quick too. Mine took 15 minutes from the time I entered the room to when I was back out in the post-op room. Pretty much laid down, looked at a bright light for a few minutes and it was done.

Like someone else on here said, I was able to get a couple years of financing at no interest. I think that is pretty common.

mnrabbit… its not that you can’t function with OK eyesight. Its just everything is easier when you can see. Driving is a big one that I didn’t even mention. I used to have problems going to new places with contacts or glasses because I couldn’t read the street names I was looking for until it was almost too late. Now I can read them a block or two ahead so I can change lanes or get ready to turn before I’m going through the intersection.

TO my knowledge, all Lasik centers will do a free screening, prior to deciding on a surgery.

I was only in MN a few years, when Pat Miles had her issues, post surgery. I get a bit nervous, but also understand that the screening process in 2016 is completely different than it was in that timeframe.

I don’t have a question. I am just super excited to finally get my vision fixed tomorrow! :woot: :yay: :peace:

I’m 2 months post-op full correction. My vision could go south today and it would be worth every penny. Congrats on the decision.

Good to hear! I’ve been kicking the can on this and should really get it done. My biggest fear is just having to wear glasses and not my contacts for the few weeks prior. But I’ve heard tons of positive things, including two family members who’ve had it done. Glad to hear it went well for you!

As a guy that wore his glasses only for the the few minutes right away in the morning and the few minutes before bed, that part sucks, but it’s only a week.

Maybe I missed it, but where did you get it done? I have a consultation on Friday at the whiting clinic. Just wondering if you had it done there and any advice?

I had mine done by Dr. Mark Lobanoff at North Suburban Eye Specialists, but I have several coworkers that have used Dr. Whiting. Good luck!
