Fresh back from a week with family on Lac Seul, what an awesome trip.
Resort is wonderful, the new owners (2019) have invested a lot and things are really comfortable. Perfect hosts, too.
Lac Seul’s Scout Lake Resort
We were on the west end, fishing mainly Bay of Islands / McKenzie Bay area. The water was 69-74 degrees, weather in the 70s with a mix of clouds/smoke/sun and light winds from NE-SE and shifting to SW on the last day.
We fished 0830-1130, 2 hour shore lunch, and 1330-1630 every day and caught as many walleye as we could possibly want. Our highest total one day was 130 in 2 boats, so a fish every 3 minutes or every 6 minutes in a single boat. The size was equally impressive with 2/3 of the fish over the 18″ slot and 1/2 over 20″.
Largest were a 25″ for my buddy’s son as well as a 38″ pike, a 25.5″ for me, a 26.5″ for my wife, a 27.25″ for my buddy, and my 11-year-old son got a 26.75″ as well as a lifetime fish at 30.25″ long. Unreal!
Tactic was bottom bouncers with spinner rigs using minnows, crawlers, and gulp crawlers moving slow at 0.7-1.0 mph. Fish were already pushing to deeper summer spots so our normal shallow mud and sand wasn’t working. We moved to main lake rock in 15-25′ and found very willing biters.
Highly recommended!
