Well, I gave the Hamms a try tonight. Can’t say I’ll be getting it again. Lol

I got the sucker ice cold and it’s tough to get down. I’ll have to get used to it to be a true IDO’er

I’d love to revisit my younger years and try a Strohs. Not sure they are still around. So I guess I could try a Busch.

I’d also like a High Life, but I actually think those aren’t bad.

I know Hamm’s is pushed by some here and so is SPAM. But I think Busch is the leader on IDO for cheap beer. Should we get a vote?

    +1 for Busch toast

Strohs and Strohs Light are still being made.
My brother drinks it so the local watering hole has them drop off a case every other drop. Have never seen anyone drinking it there but him.

A buddy and myself have started drinking Hamms again. We both like it especially for the price.

LOL! Please note that HAMM’S is not “pushed” in any of my posts. “Pushed” meaning I’m trying influence anyone to buy it.

Much like SPAM, it’s a fun item from days gone by to talk about and poke fun at. No more, No less…

With the boom of the micro breweries (which I personally can’t stand) and the fact that “LIGHT” beer is actually still around, it’s a middle of the road flavor.

BTW You know the difference between a light beer and having sex in a canoe is right?

They are both close to water. toast

I’ll have to check the next time I am at the store. Not sure if any of the beers I mentioned are distributed down here. Since I went to craft beers, regular lagers are hard to drink. Forget the flavor, lagers make my stomach feel odd after a few.

Update: No Grainbelt. Strohs is in FL, but the locator has them 100 miles away, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t find them.

FYI it sounds like Yuengling is spreading their distribution or do you already have it in Minnesota?

You have Narragansett Lager? I have been meaning to try that one as a joke too.

Strohs and Strohs Light are still being made.

Strohs is only still around because Pabst was able to get it for cheap after the 5th generation Stroh family ran it into the ground. They were once one of the richest families and fastest growing companies in the US(maybe the world?)

I know Hamm’s and Stroh’s are still brewed but they’ve both been bought by Miller, I think? That or one of the other major breweries. Not even sure it’s the same recipe as the old days or if they just brew something with bargain ingredients and slap the label on it, maybe someone else knows more.

If I’m going to drink Hamm’s I want to know I’m drinking my grandpa’s Hamm’s! Otherwise I’ll stick with Latte!

I have a recollection back in college we were able to buy a case for $4. That was a lot of money back then but I don’t remember much about that time.

Hamms was before my time, but still I pine for the nostalgia of it. The commercials, the song, the bear, those Hamms lights with the moving water that people had up in their wood paneled basements. Love it all. It’s Minnesota and I’m damn proud of it. Reminds me of a time when men were men.

For a cheap beer on the hottest of days, it’s also not bad.

No sign of Yuengling in MN yet. I was stationed on the east coast for a few years and that was my go to for sure. Tasty brew.

For cheap and light, Latte’s all day! Buschhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

    Old school go-to: Schlitz!

Side note – I still remember as a kid tearing off the coupon label on my old man’s Kingsbury bottles and saving them in a Mason jar. When we had enough we’d send them in for a free cooler or a lawn chair, or set of Jarts.

    Man, I’m old.
