The people making these laws stand to make a fortune because of them. That is the primary concern for most in my opinion.

I would argue that most are morons, and idealistic. On both sides. A very bad combination. The smart ones will definitely profit from it though.

the Union i worked for and belonged to worked in the power industry, i got to hear alot of things. the craziest part was the amount of subsidies that the solar, windmill stuff gets is mind boggling!!1

I work in the power industry. If it wasn’t for the tax credits, no utilities would be doing wind or solar. Without the PTCs and ITCs, the IRRs of these projects would be negligible.

Also, I saw someone mention nuclear above. When you hear Xcel Energy talk about their renewable %, they include nuclear. Just so everyone is aware of that.

I didn’t realize that Prairie Island and Monticello generated a quarter of our electric. Maybe put 4-5 more nuclear plants around the metro and we can get enough electric to run some of these ideas.

I guarantee Edelson and Newton both drive expensive SUV’s and simply pay gardeners to maintain their landscaping. They don’t live in the same reality as you and I, and it’s always “rules for thee, not for me” from these disgusting people.

One look at the maps below and you’ll know why we end up with crazy bills and laws.

Rocks and cows I think is how someone described the areas in red.

I work at one. I can honestly say you’re in good hands, everything is taken extremely seriously. When you hear some scream about how dangerous it is “having nuclear waste in our backyards!” it’s very likely they don’t have a clue what they’re talking about. The main drawback is that it’s not cheap. Talks a lot of parts, equipment, facilities, and people to run one of those safely, but it’s reliable energy.

At one time before MN was a state …. some states allowed only those owning land to vote. Rhode Island kept the requirement until 1843 or so. Some states then required white men to have some level of assets to vote.

There was also a time when only those who paid taxes could vote (state by state rule).

    Land doesn’t vote.

Wish it did, or at least made a person who is actually investing in the state (paying property taxes) to have more pull than a person living in state funded section 8 housing and on welfare.

You guys all sing the praises of your lithium ion ice augers. Be terrible to have an ion leaf blower I guess though.

Batteries aren’t the problem, they’re a great option in a free market. The problem is when the government eliminates your choice. It’s not to save the planet, it’s to exert control over the constituents.

Love my battery weed whip, drills, auger, lamps, etc etc. I don’t kid myself into believe they are better for the environment- they are more convenient for my use case though. A battery car is not. A battery lawn mower is not.

Perhaps MN would be better off with a battery-operated governor?

I believe our governor is wind powered as our most of our politicians.

KPE great post, you nailed it. I couldn’t agree more, I have a electric chainsaw for those light tasks, but a big gas husky for putting some cords up. Have electric leaf blower for the same thing. I have a friend that has a Tesla, works perfect for him actually pretty sweet actually. For me not gonna cut it currently the same for a electric trucks. The government shouldn’t be mandating this stuff period. Let the free markets choose and drive demands that way.

KPE and Gregory hit the nail on the head. Can’t add much other than to say comparing electric vehicle mandates to the use of an electric auger is not even remotely analogous. In my situation, I love my Strikemaster 24v because it does everything my gas auger did for me and is much lighter and easier for me to operate, and is not government subsidized or mandated. An electric truck is the complete opposite of that.

I will say this first, Folks who are genuinely handicapped and truly need our help are entitled to everything they need to live and they should be able to vote period.
That said, if you arent helping pull the wagon ( paying taxes or a legal resident ) you have no business being able to vote, why do I say that??
Because those who feed, clothe, and house them are expecting their vote in return for the freebies,, that wouldnt be a bad concept if you could take special interests out of the equation and where the money truly went, think about what I just said before you blurt out nonsensical bs.

Those of us who pay taxes are supporting way too many now and those we are supporting with our hard earned money want more of it and they sure as hell are not going to vote to take less of it.
Look at this way, a stray cat shows up, you feel sorry for it and feed it, guess what?? yep its back the next day wanting to be fed again and it never ends until you quit feeding it and nature takes over.
In other words, when you get hungry enough, you will work for your next meal and it will taste better because you EARNED IT.
Those who believe differently than this,, ah hell, we could talk until we are blue in the face..

Question for those who work in the nuke plants, is all of that depleted radioactive stuff still being buried deep in a mountain out west???
If so, no more nukes for me thanks.

    Amen Sheldon.
I’ll say it out loud “ the loonie left mindset is driving this country right now. Bass ackwards! Cleaner fuel sure. Right now nuclear is far and away the best option ( sorry Sheldon) Forcing mandates the way they are is not the answer. A planned approach makes more sense instead of decimating industries and families in this country. Hell we barely even Produce anything here anymore!
This governor and the rest of his cronies need to be ridden out of town. There are other options for voting that eliminate the issues outlined in the maps earlier in the thread. They will never pass with the liberal majority. We give TRILLIONS around the world and freebies to illegals and our own citizens can’t make ends meet and are still expected to pay more!!

    One of my favorite quotes:
“The trouble with the world is the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent people are full of self doubt” ( or in this country’s case the intelligent are conservative)

Biggill, I’m sorry but I’m not kidding.

If you’re an able-bodied 16-60 year old living off the government tit (which happens to be funded by people who are not), then I think someone paying your way should have more to say about then you.

Picture yourself living in your house just like you are today.

But now you have a roommate that you don’t know, didn’t get to pick, and they don’t do a fricken thing to help out.

They don’t contribute a single dollar for your mortgage, gas, electric, internet, grocery bills, etc, etc. Yet they live in your house and eat your food with zero effort and without consequence.

When the bills come due, you have no say at all with YOUR MONEY, and must pay for and put up with them every step of the way.

Your sink if full of dirty dishes they made and your bank account is being drained from their lack of drive in life.

If that somehow sounds like a great idea to you, please let me know and we’ll immediately move in tomorrow. Kinda sounds like a great gig for me.

If it doesn’t, maybe you’ll get where I’m coming from.

So you’re saying the the small area of blue on the map is made up of those deadbeat roommates that don’t contribute?

By the way Brandon, I lived in section 8 housing at one point. It just happened to be in one of those red counties. According to you, my vote shouldn’t count.

My father is a contractor in the big blue area, and has worked his ass off his entire life. He’s told me more than once “You wouldn’t believe how many section 8 homes there are…”

There’s a ton of them that look just like your house and mine, it’s not just run down apartments or 100 year old houses with 30 coats of paint on the walls.

They’re in every county in the state, but concentrated in the blue ones.

If your party continues on their path people will start fleeing just like they are in CA and NY.
