Algae bloom?

What is the water temp and is the algae bloom in full force? How bad is it really, are people still swimming? Is it like the St. Croix where you notice it but no layer on the surface or like Menomin with a thick layer that smells realy bad or somewhere in the middle? I’m debating bringing the boat along this weekend or leaving early and coming back and fishing the Croix since the eyes are feeding. Thanks for any info.

I have not been out there since the weekend before the 4th of July. Considering all the rain we’ve had and the flow of the river going through Lake Wisconsin, my best guess is its not going to be all that bad. Especially if you get any wind at all. If there is no wind, the algae will float to the surface.

Thanks for the reply Joel, I’m going to bring the boat (I think I would even if it was a mess out there). Maybe the algae will help me find the current seams on the lake.

I was out last Tue and Wed fishing for B/G and did great before the big rain. The bloom is much less then it was last year. With the amount of flow going about 6-7 inches above norm I do not think it will be bad this year. I seen some Duck weed which is a good thing. The big thing now is all the crap coming down the river into the lake large pieces of timber and floating debris. Keep your eyes open
