Lake Wisconsin – Tuesday

Decided to blow off work today as I have to be out of town the next couple days. Hit Lake Wisconsin about 7:00 and was met with high winds and big white caps. The winds diminished as the day went on, thank god. Couldn’t have caught a fish with dynamite in the morning. Pulled lead core, long lined, jigged, dragged, pitched, and all of them produced nothing. I kept at it all day though, and about 4:00, they finally turned on.

I started pulling small shad raps on boards in 4 to 6 feet of water because it was one of the only things I had left to try, and I have had good luck in past springs in that area. Managed to boat 4 slot fish, with the biggest at 25 1/2 inches. Also had an 18 and 19 inch fish, and a good dozen or more fish in the 12 inch range. Also had a half dozen white bass, some of which were as large as I’ve ever seen on Lake Wisconsin.

Turned out to be a good day in the end. Some times, persistence pays off. No pictures though. Forgot the camera at home.

Nice job John! Way to stick with it and work thru the options.
I’m sure it was way better than a good day at work.

Days like that takes the sting off of working out of town and something to look forward to when returning. Way to go!

So John was out fishing with all of his friends again? Great report. Glad you hit some paydirt. It is about time that bite started.

John, what was the water temp in the 4-6 feet of water area you were fishing?
