I am headed out to fish Lake Wisconsin on Sunday and also potentially on Monday depending on how the day goes tomorrow. This is my first trip out there ever…

What is the best landing to launch at?

I plan on fishing for bass and then after not catching anything working on some walleyes with live bait. Where is the best place to get some bait and some decent information.

Looking forward to seeing the lake, have been in the madison area for 6 years and have always wanted to head out here. If nothing else, I’ll at least get the first test run on the boat done and get to test out the new HB down imaging.

If you see a white/gray and red skeeter putting around say hey!

I would put in at the Whalen Grade (CTH CS) and there is a good bait shop right across from the landing. If you are not familiar with the lake, use caution because there are a million stumps in the lake. Stay near the bouys or be careful. Good luck.

Spent 5 hours out today. Whole lot of nothing. I love the lake however it has so much potential. Stayed away from the river. Best water temp was 54 degrees. Wind was miserable today blowing right down main lake.

Lake Wisconsin is a great lake. If you keep fishing it, and start figuring it out, you will fish it more. This time of year, the buoys are not usually in, and there are some hazards to be found, especially if you launch at the grade. Lots of stumps in the main lake in certain areas as well. I don’t think I caught a fish the first three or four times I fished it. Its now my favorite lake.

    Welcome to IDO Hojobass

    Nic,

If you or anyone else like fishing the lake and want to cut down on the time needed to learn presentations and what structures to look for that work on Lake Wisconsin book a trip with Joel Ballweg. Check out his reports in the report forum from the past few years, the reports will let you know what you can expect in a boat with the Lake Wisconsin Master.

His rig is way comfortable to fish from and Joel is one heck of a guy to spend time with. He is great at sharing what he knows and doesn’t even mind some humor
