Two weeks ago I managed to put a new personal best Lake Wisconsin sauger in my boat at 4 pounds 1 oz. That personal record lasted all of two weeks as today I managed to boat one that weighed in at an even 5 pounds on the digital scale. It only went 22 inches but was about the fattest sauger I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, the picture was kind of a rush job since it was only about 18 degrees and I wanted to get the fish back in the water. It doesn’t begin to show the true size of that fish.
Anyway, that was pretty much the excitement for the day. Picked up three sauger between about 8:00 and 8:15 and then never boated another fish all day. Some days just don’t turn out so well, but just getting that one sauger made the day worth it for me.
All three of my sauger fell for a purple white tail paddle tail from BFT on a green tiger barred precision head.
