My first fall walleye fishing trip for the year 2012 was dominated by Mother Nature as she finally relented and dumped a large amount of rain on our area this past weekend. The rain gear went on early and never came off.
The walleye and sauger fishing wasn’t great but for mid-October, it wasn’t bad either.
From here on out, we’ll most likely leave the crappies be and concentrate primarily on walleyes and saugers.
I spent a wet Saturday morning with Jack, Bill & John Danley. Authentix Moxi Ringle in chartreuse orange core, sassafras and purple/chartreuse tail on a 3/8oz Precision jig head was by far our best bait on this day.
Bill Danley’s nice, healthy 22′ walleye was the biggest we caught but five others between 15-20″ long also found the Moxi Ringle to good to resist and ended up going home for supper with the Danley family.
The rain was very much needed in our area but just the same, I hope that’s the last time it rains for an entire weekend until next year.
