Lakeville police say another dog has died under suspicious circumstances, following weeks of reports of dog owners finding nails, screws and other harmful objects hidden in food items.
The police department announced the latest death on its Facebook page Friday and said a reward was being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.
An investigation began in early March when a resident reported finding tainted food items in an area south of Lake Marion, near Upper 205th Street West and 205th Court.
At least two dogs have died so far, and investigators are working to determine the exact cause of death in those cases.
Police are asking residents and dog owners to be extra vigilant in monitoring their animals and looking for suspicious items.
