Looking for a lake to head to tomorrow that has a beach that can be accessed by boat, hopefully in the Aitkin/McGregor area.
Just want a place to stop and let the dog swim, grill up lunch, and hang out with the FW. Tomorrows looking pretty decent and I’d like to just go relax on a lake for the day, and get away from the house and its chores.
We have tons of lakes up here near Cloquet/Duluth but I’ll be danged if I can recall any that have a decent beach to pull up to. Most are rock or low area/swamp shoreline.

    Thanks for any ideas.

North end of Mille Lacs is the only place I can think of in the Aitkin area.

The wife, kids and I will be going to Lone Lake beach on Saturday. Let me know if you need directions. Would love to shoot the sh!t with you.

This lake is the only lake with a beach I know of. It’s pretty small but a quiet beach.

Lake Superior has lots of beach you can pull up to and with tomorrows low winds you have miles of beach that’d be suitable. The beaches inside the break walls of the superior entry are protected and the point side is a pretty popular spot for boats to pull up to beach it.

And if you get bored on the beach you shouldn’t have a problem catching walleyes pulling cranks or crawler harnesses in the harbor. Been a good year on the river.

Thought of ML but it’s too boring, nothing really to see there in a non fishing way.
And Superior is out,as it’s Grandma’s marathon weekend and half the State is up in Duluth (thus why I’m looking west of Cloquet)

Biggill, thanks for the suggestion. Took me a few to find it. Definitely gonna keep that one in mind. Enjoy your day there!

Decided to head up to Boulder reservoir north of Duluth. Used to fish and camp there when we lived in Hermantown but haven’t been there in many years. There’s no real beach, but several disbursed campsites around the lake to pull up to, and put a couple of chairs on shore to relax for awhile and let the dog swim.
