I was going to go to this lake i went to last year, had fun, caught some Walters, couple of nice pike but no SMBs. Looked at the DNR report they say the population is ‘excellent’- with their electrofishing they got 15, I guess in an hour. For largies that would not be excellent, that(excellent)would be around 80. What do you smallie guys think? Do not want to go to the river, ‘tonka, or ML this time (all solid options that are coming soon hopefuly)
This lake was probably 50 miles west of MPLS., so I have a pretty expansive view of the metro.
    Thanks

There really isn’t a good population of SMB in lakes of the greater metro area. I wouldn’t even say there’s very many in Tonka, which probably has the most in the area.

Your best bet will be a river Tim. Rivers are often over looked here and under fished in my opinion.

Or a lake that a river with smallies dumps into like Cokato. Has fish, but kind of a stinky, silty lake… better options IMHO.
