Lakemaster chips/handheld GPS

So i see James and the guys are always using lake master chips int heir handheld GPS. I see that Humminbird bought Lakemaster and their chips only work in Humminbird sonars, since humminbird doesn’t make handheld GPS units will the chip still work in other handheld GPS units. Advice, suggestions?

I have been told no. But they may be using an older Lakemaster chip that were produced before hummingbird bought them. I myself use an older Lakemaster chip that is for Wisconsin only in my Garmin. It has many more lakes than Lakemaster chips that are produced now have.
