Any one been up? How are the ice and snow conditions. Are people driving trucks on ice? Also wondering how long of auger extension is needed?
We have group going up 3-18?
Thanks in advance for any info

We have a storm rolling in tonight and tomorrow. Could drop 20″ of snow. Right now it’s a skating rink. Cars all over the lake. Yes bring an extension. After the storm, temps are dropping well below zero again. Will post once the storm passes.
Thanks, updates would be greatly appreciated. If 4 wheeler or snowmobile needed as much advance warning helps.
Cars/Trucks were a possibility over the weekend but this storm may change that as mentioned earlier. If accessing on the west side you will be limited to fishing 17 FOW or shallower due to the heave. The heave opened back up Saturday afternoon and it was very difficult to find a place to cross with an ATV without planks (having planks is highly recommended, a 10′ 2×10 cut in half is all you need). We fished Thursday-Saturday and caught a lot of eaters but only iced 5 fish over 25″ with the largest being 28″. With the nice weather on Sunday we heard a lot better reports on bigger fish but that is likely to shut off again this week with the cold front/storm moving through.

Or you could access east side and drive west. A few cracks, but with planks no issue.
The bulk of the snow is going to hit the lake. I’ll post when I get a snow total and a report from several guides I know.
There has been 3-4″ of snow so far on the lake. A little more still expected today. The wind will be screaming, 40-65mph. Will be whiteout conditions for a couple of days. Temps will be plunging behind this storm, temps Friday will be -29, so be prepared!
Thanks for the up dates. It would be greatly appreciated if you can more as things change if you can.

Heading up early on friday and fishing the weekend. Thanks for the update.
Today I’d say windy, with a chance of windy.
Living up to the name Big Windy
The bulk of the snow stayed west. Any that hit the lake is blown off with the hurricane force winds we have behind the snow. More open ice with hard packed drifts. Wheelers would still be better than sleds. Throw your ramps in the portables, or bring planks, and your good. Ridges will be very active. Arctic temps setting in…going to be really cold now.
Just heard Balsam Harbor and Sunset are blown in and trucks are not able to access from them. Any one know if someone will be opening this up before Friday?

All depends on the municipality.
