    Hey guys,

Looking for a little input here. Want to have a setup for Lake Trout/Pike/Winnipeg Walleyes. Torn between Admiral or Commander from Tuned Up Custom Rods. If anyone has any experience between those 2 would like to hear it.

Then for reel, this is where I am unsure. Any input here for a reel to go along with the rod.

    Thanks!

How big of trout? What size of lure?

If I was picking between the two, I would go with a 38″ Commander. The Admiral is really stiff. I like the rod to flex more when Lake Trout or any big fish are near the hole.

You can’t go wrong with a Helios SX 20 reel.

Just make sure your reel has a great drag! Shimano and Daiwa make great drags so you cant go wrong with either of those brands.

    Hey guys,

I’ve got the TUCR commander 32”. Would this be a rod I could use for lakers or is it too short?

The Commander is all the rod you need for walleye and pike and occasional trout. If you plan on mainly targeting trout, the Admiral or LTP are designed for Lake Trout. They are both a bit to stiff for walleye though.

A 32″ Commander will be just as capable as a 38″. The longer rods are helpful if you fish from your feet mainly. They allow you to get closer to the hole without having to bend.
