Just trying to see if there’s any laker lakes in mid to southern Manitoba. Would like to try some out without planning a big trip all the way up north to Clearwater or somewhere like that. Would be fun do be able to do a long weekend for lakers.

Some of the lakes in the very southeast corner of MB, Whiteshell PP, have lakers. But that’s also basically NW Ontario, almost closer to Kenora than Winnipeg.

This is in Ontario but not far from the MN border. We’ve rented cabins and fished with him several times but now we do it on our own.

My two biggest lakers came from the whitefish bay area of LOTW @ 34” and 39”. Those were summer time fish and that area may not be in your wheelhouse at this time. Plus not sure what options there are thru the ice up there, tho I’m sure there are some.

Honorable mention: I lost a monster on crow lake in Ontario but I never laid eyes on it. Could have been Bigfoot with his scuba gear messing with me for all I know.

Not big but numbers, west hawk lake. Near peanut island. Your less than 1/2 hr from Lotw from west hawk.

Also not Manitoba but Lake Nipigon will rival anything out there. Definitely not for amateur ice fishermen but if you have the equipment to get in there in the winter it’s an absolute riot! Have to be very careful as the lake is really hit or miss as far as ice conditions even on the best years.
